Norman John Pace (born 17 February 1953) is an English actor and comedian, best known as one half of the comedy duo Hale and Pace with his friend and comic partner Gareth Hale. Both former teachers, they fronted several television programmes jointly, most notably Hale and Pace, Pushing Up Daisies, h&p@bbc and Jobs for the Boys.
He grew up in Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire. He attended the Magnus Grammar School.[ citation needed ] He then went to Avery Hill College, now the Avery Hill Campus [1] of the University of Greenwich, in Eltham where he gained a BEd in 1975.[ citation needed ]
As straight actors they also fronted the original TV dramatisation of Dalziel and Pascoe , and in 1989 they guest-starred together in the Doctor Who serial Survival . Also in 1989, Hale and Pace won the Golden Rose of Montreux. In 2007 they appeared in the Christmas special of Extras playing themselves. In 2018 he was acting in the comedy TV series Benidorm with Gareth Hale
Norman Pace later began working in theatre and starred in Chicago at the Adelphi Theatre, Breakfast with Jonny Wilkinson and Our Man in Havana at the Nottingham Playhouse. In summer 2010 he appeared as the detective in a touring production of the Peter Gordon comedy Murdered to Death. In autumn 2013 he appeared as "The Showman" in Michael Eaton's Charlie Peace: His Amazing Life & Astounding Legend at the Nottingham Playhouse. In 2014 Pace was touring in a production of One Man, Two Guvnors . [2] He was also a regular presenter for The Open on the Sky Poker channel.
In 2016 he toured with The Rocky Horror Show [3] and from 2017 a new production of Hairspray , playing the role of Wilbur Turnblad. [4] As of March 2022 [update] he was still performing in this role. [5]
The Rocky Horror Show is a musical with music, lyrics and book by Richard O'Brien. A humorous tribute to various B movies associated with the science fiction and horror genres from the 1930s to the early 1960s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist, Dr Frank-N-Furter, unveiling his new creation, Rocky, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man complete "with blond hair and a tan".

Hairspray is an American musical with music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, with a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on John Waters's 1988 film of the same name. The songs include 1960s-style dance music and "downtown" rhythm and blues. Set in 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, the production follows teenage Tracy Turnblad's dream to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life Buddy Deane Show. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight, leading to social change as Tracy campaigns for the show's integration.

Hale and Pace were an English comedy double-act that performed in clubs and on radio and television in the United Kingdom in the 1980s and 1990s. The duo was made up of Gareth Hale and Norman Pace, with the Hale and Pace television show running for ten years and 66 episodes, from 1988 to 1998.

One Man, Two Guvnors is a play by Richard Bean, an English adaptation of Servant of Two Masters, a 1743 Commedia dell'arte style comedy play by the Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni. The play replaces the Italian period setting of the original with Brighton in 1963. The play opened at the National Theatre in 2011, toured in the UK and then opened in the West End in November 2011, with a subsequent Broadway opening in April 2012. The second tour was launched six months later, playing the UK, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. The second UK production in London closed in March 2014, before a third tour of the UK began in May 2014.
