Prostate Cancer UK is a prostate cancer research, awareness and support organisation which is a registered charity in England and Wales, [1] as well as in Scotland. [2]

History

The organisation was founded in 1996 as The Prostate Cancer Charity by Professor Jonathan Waxman. [3] The charity merged with Prostate Action in 2012 to form the current organisation.

As of 2021, EDF Energy is currently in a partnership with the charity, which will run until December 2022. [4]

Work

In 2021, the charity funded a study investigating why black men are twice as likely as other men to develop prostate cancer. [5] [6] The charity also launched its Clinical Champions program, where the charity provides funding and training to selected people. [7]

Prostate cancer is cancer of the prostate. The prostate is a gland in the male reproductive system that surrounds the urethra just below the bladder. Most prostate cancers are slow growing. GroceryAid

GroceryAid is a registered (1095897) benevolent society for people from all over the United Kingdom who have worked, or are working in the grocery industry, and who find they need extra support to get by. Founded in 1857 the National Grocers Benevolent Fund has been trading under the GroceryAid name since October 2012. The charity over the years has combined with numerous charities, including the London Grocers & Tea Dealers Federation, the Grocers Federation Benevolent Fund and the Grocers Employees National Benevolent Fund.
