Rasheen Ali (born February 16, 2001) is an American football running back for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Marshall, and was selected by the Ravens in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft.

Early life and high school

Ali grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Shaker Heights High School. He was rated a three-star recruit and committed to play college football at Marshall over an offer from Hampton. [1] [2] [3]

College career

Ali played in six games during his true freshman season in 2020 where he logged 22 rushing yards on five carries along with 76 kick return yards. [4] During the 2021 season, he became one of the nation's premier running backs and finished with 1,401 yards and 23 touchdowns on 250 carries. [5] By the end of the season, he was named on the Maxwell Football Club's Freshman of the Year Watch List, [6] the Team MVP, an All-Conference USA First Team selection [7] and a FWAA Freshman All-American. [8] During the 2022 season, he sat out for most of the season due to an injury leading to a medical redshirt. [9] [10] He came back for the last three games and finished the season with 273 rushing yards and a touchdown. [11] He was named the MVP of the 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl where he completed 92 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. [12] By the end of the season, he was named on the Doak Walker Award Watch List [13] and the Maxwell Award Watch List. [14] During the 2022 offseason, Ali ran for the Thundering Herd track team. [15]

During the 2023 season, Ali ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns during the Week 4 game against Virginia Tech to take the win against them. [16] Because of his performance, he was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week. [17]

The 1995 Marshall Thundering Herd football team represented Marshall University as a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon) during the 1995 NCAA Division I-AA football season. Led by sixth-year head coach Jim Donnan, the Thundering Herd compiled an overall record of 12–3 with a mark of 7–1 in conference play, placing second in the SoCon. Marshall advanced to the NCAA Division I-AA Championship playoffs for the fifth straight season, where they defeated Jackson State in the first round, Northern Iowa in the quarterfinals, and McNeese State in the semifinals, before losing to Montana in the NCAA Division I-AA Championship Game. Marshall played home games at Marshall University Stadium in Huntington, West Virginia.

The 2022 Myrtle Beach Bowl was a postseason college football bowl game played on December 19, 2022, at Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina. The third annual Myrtle Beach Bowl, the game featured the Marshall Thundering Herd of the Sun Belt Conference and the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies, who were not affiliated with a football conference. The bowl game was the final contest concluding the 2022 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision football season for both teams, and ended in a 28–14 victory for Marshall.
