Real Back in Style is the debut studio album by English rapper Potter Payper, released on 12 May 2023 by 0207 Def Jam. It follows Payper's 2021 mixtape, Thanks for Waiting, and his Training Day mixtape trilogy.

Release and promotion

The album was announced on 21 April 2023 through Payper's social media. [5] It was supported by three singles through the first quarter of 2023: "Blame Brexit", "Multifaceted" and "Corner Boy". [2] [3] [4]

According to the review aggregator Metacritic , Real Back in Style received "universal acclaim" based on a weighted average score of 84 out of 100 from 4 critic scores. [8] For The Telegraph , Will Pritchard praised the album's storytelling and realism, describing it as "disarmingly honest music that indicates a newly mature era for UK rap." [10] In a five-star review, Fred Garratt-Stanley of Whynow commented "Real Back in Style presents Potter Payper’s trademark style of impassioned, fiery road rap storytelling in a tighter, more cohesive format than ever before. His narratives are cleverly woven, the instrumentals behind them powerful and expansive." [1] For Rolling Stone , Joe Goggins described Real Back in Style as "an exercise in authenticity", while noting Payper's production nods to 90s hip hop. [9]

In 2021, he signed to the UK division of Def Jam Recordings. In 2022, his song "Gangsteritus" featuring Tiggs Da Author became his first UK top 40 single. after its use in Top Boy.

The album features guest appearances from ADMT, Born Trappy, Clavish, Daff, Headie One, Marnz Malone, Nafe Smallz, Slim, KayMuni, KB, Millyz, and Mozzy, alongside production from Aaron Goedluck, Chucks, Harry Beech, Manson Beats, and Scott Supreme, alongside several other producers.

Chapter 16 is the second mixtape by British rapper Clavish. It was released through Polydor Records and Universal Music UK on 17 May 2024. The mixtape features guest appearances from Bazz, D-Block Europe, Fredo, KayMuni, Kirky, Marnz Malone and Potter Payper and includes production from Fridayy, LiTek, R14 Beats, Sam Cliffe and WhyJay alongside several other producers.
