Rock Comic Con is a touring nerd music festival created by Jon Price, Jeff LaGreca and Jeff LaGreca, all members of the band H2Awesome!, in 2010. [1] It was originally held to complement that year's New York Comic Con but has been held along with Denver Comic Con and billed as its "official after-party". [2] Proceeds from Rock Comic Con 1 went to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. [3]

A nerd is a person seen as overly intellectual, obsessive, introverted, or lacking social skills. Such a person may spend inordinate amounts of time on unpopular, little known, or non-mainstream activities, which are generally either highly technical, abstract, or relating to niche topics such as science fiction or fantasy, to the exclusion of more mainstream activities. Together the pair form the female part of the classic love triangle which has become a staple of the comic series since 1942.

The Harvey Awards are given for achievement in comic books. Named for writer-artist Harvey Kurtzman, the Harvey Awards were founded by Gary Groth in 1988, president of the publisher Fantagraphics, to be the successor to the Kirby Awards which were discontinued in 1987.

Nerdcore is a genre of hip hop music characterized by subject matter considered of interest to nerds and geeks. Self-described nerdcore musician MC Frontalot has the earliest known recorded use of the term in the 2000 song "Nerdcore Hiphop". Frontalot, like most nerdcore artists, self-publishes his work and has released much of it for free online. As a niche genre, nerdcore generally holds to the DIY ethic, and has a history of self-publishing and self-production.

It parodies the song "Ridin'" by Chamillionaire and Krayzie Bone. The song both satirizes and celebrates nerd culture, as recited by the subject, who cannot "roll with the gangstas" because he is "just too white and nerdy". It includes many references to activities stereotypically associated with nerds and/or white people, such as collecting comic books and action figures, being fluent in JavaScript and Klingon, editing Wikipedia, and playing Dungeons & Dragons (D&D).

Midtown Comics is a New York City comic book retailer with three shops in Manhattan and an e-commerce website. The largest comic book store in the United States, the company opened its first store in the Times Square area in 1997. Its second was opened on Lexington Avenue in 2004, and is known as the Grand Central store for its proximity to Grand Central Terminal. Its downtown store was opened on Fulton Street in the Financial District in November 2010, and its Astoria, Queens outlet store opened in March 2020. It also used to operate a boutique inside Manhattan's Times Square Toys R Us.

Marvel Now! is a comic book branding for the relaunch of several ongoing comic books published by Marvel Comics, that debuted in October 2012 with new #1 issues. The relaunch also included some new titles, including Uncanny Avengers and All-New X-Men. Described as a shifting of the Marvel Universe following the conclusion of the "Avengers vs. X-Men" storyline, Marvel Now! entailed changes to both the publishing format and the universe to attract new readers. Publishing changes included new creative teams for each of the titles and the in-universe changes included changes to character designs and new storylines. It marked the next stage of the Marvel ReEvolution initiative, which began in March 2012. The original run went through several waves before coming to an end in May 2015 at the start of the "Secret Wars" storyline. A second Marvel Now!, Marvel Now! 2.0, debuted in 2016 following the "Civil War II" storyline. Marvel Now! 2.0 was followed in 2017 by Marvel Legacy.

The Doubleclicks Nerd-folk musical duo

The Doubleclicks are a nerd-folk musical duo based in Portland, Oregon and Los Angeles, California, consisting of siblings Laser Webber and Aubrey Turner. They first became known for performing nerd-friendly comedy music, including songs about Dungeons & Dragons, dinosaurs, and other geeky themes. While their later songs retain those elements, there has been a stronger focus on feminist and other social issues, and more personal themes.

Pop Culture Classroom, is a nonprofit organization based in Denver, Colorado, that teaches literacy and the arts through alternative approaches to learning and character development. The organization creates educational programs for underserved youth, schools. and communities using comic books, graphic novels and related media to inspire passion for reading, art, and learning.

High Adventure is an American rock band based in Connecticut. Since 2008, they have gathered a worldwide following of fans with their passionate music about comic books, movies, video games and fandom. Geek rock is a musical subgenre derived from pop rock and alternative rock within the nerd music group. Nerd music is the overall category of music collecting the musical genres that grew from nerd culture; different styles that share the same common ground.

"Nothing to Prove" is a feminist nerd-folk song by The Doubleclicks released on their second album Lasers and Feelings. It is a response to the misogynist concept of the "fake geek girl" and the subsequent bullying and gatekeeping prevalent within the geek community. The Doubleclicks released a crowd-sourced music video, featuring segments filmed by women within the geek community, that went viral and received over a million views.

Thundering Asteroids! is an American four-person, female-fronted nerd punk band from Portland, Oregon, United States. The band was formed in 2009, released an EP in 2011 and studio albums in 2012 and 2014. Their genre of music is often inspired by geek pop culture, the band is named after a Robotech exclamation and each member uses a stage name based on the Star Wars expanded universe.

<i>President Snakes</i> 2015 studio album by The Doubleclicks

President Snakes is the fourth album from the nerd-folk duo The Doubleclicks, released on August 11, 2015. The album was funded via Kickstarter with a goal of $30,000. The goal was achieved within the first few days of the campaign's launch. It exceeded this and raised $55,535, on June 2, 2015.

<i>Marvel Superheroes: What the--?!</i> TV series or program

Marvel SuperHeroes: What The--?! is Marvel Comics' self-parody stop-motion animated web-series. The series uses superhero action figures to create the stop motion animation. The series began in 2009.

Lucia Fasano is an American singer-songwriter, comedian, actress, comic book writer, cartoonist, and writer based in Los Angeles, California. Fasano co-created and co-stars in the web series Catty B's.

Jim Demonakos is an American director, graphic novelist, and event organizer noted for his work in comic books, conventions, and documentary films. He is most often noted as the founder of Emerald City Comic Con and LightBox Expo, as well as the director and producer of the award-winning documentary film, Mike Mignola: Drawing Monsters.
