Saayoni Ghosh is an Indian Bengali film and television actress. She is also a singer [1] and a politician. [2] Her acting debut was with a telefilm Ichhe Dana, [3] and her first appearance on the big screen was with a short role in the film Notobor Notout . She then shared the screen with some veteran actors in Raj Chakraborty's Shotru , and later played a carefree journalist role in Raj Chakraborty's daily serial Proloy Asche . [4] She has played lead roles in the films Kanamachi , Antaraal, Ekla Cholo , Amar sahor, Bitnoon , Mayer Biye, Rajkahini . [1] She came into limelight in politics in January 2021 after an FIR was lodged against her by Tathagata Roy for hurting Hindu sentiments. [5] She joined All India Trinamool Congress on 24 February 2021.

In March 2021, she was announced to be All India Trinamool Congress’s candidate for the Asansol South constituency in the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election. But, she was defeated by BJP's candidate Agnimitra Paul. [6]

She was appointed the "president of the youth wing of Trinamool Congress" in June-2021, after Abhishek Banerjee has been relieved of the duty. [2]

Calcutta Football League

Saayoni also co-hosted the Calcutta Football League in 2013 and 2014 for Jalsha Movies during Live telecast.[ citation needed ]

Rajkahini is an Indian Bengali-language historical drama film directed by Srijit Mukherji. The shooting of the film completed in June 2015 and the film released on 16 October 2015. The film has an ensemble cast of eleven major female characters led by Rituparna Sengupta and also stars Saswata Chatterjee, Kaushik Sen, Jisshu Sengupta, Abir Chatterjee and Jaya Ahsan in other pivotal roles. It has been remade in Hindi by Mukherji as Begum Jaan. The film was a critical and commercial success.

West Bengal School Service Recruitment Scam is an ongoing education SSC scam in West Bengal, India since 2022. The scam is being currently investigated jointly by Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate. The scam was revealed, following the arrest of Partha Chatterjee, a Trinamool Congress leader, who has served as the Minister of Education in the Mamata Banerjee's cabinet until his arrest on 23 July 2022.
