Sensei (born September 16, 1978) is a Mexican luchador enmascarado , or masked professional wrestler, currently working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). He previously worked for International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) as Fantasy where he won several titles. Sensei's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. [3]

Professional wrestling career

Initially the wrestler who would later work as Sensei used the ring name Kundalini when he made his debut in 1995. He was one of the first wrestlers to work for International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) when it formed in 1996. In IWRG he was given the name Fantasy along with a colorful outfit and mask. [2] In 1999 Fantasy went to Toryumon Mexico to participate in the Young Dragons Cup, but in the first round he lost to Yasushi Kanda. The year 2000 became his break-out year as he teamed with Black Dragon to reach the finals of a tournament to crown the first ever IWRG Intercontinental Tag Team Champions but lost to Yasushi Kanda and Susumu Mochizuki on January 2, 2000. Two months later Fantasy teamed with Starboy to defeat Kanda and Mochizuki to win the tag team championship. [4] Fantasy and Star Boy lost the tag team titles to Los Megas (Mega and Ultra Mega) in October, 2000 but regained them a year later. [5] The team lost the titles to Los Megas once again and then split up in 2002. [6] Fantasy quickly found singles success as he defeated Cerebro Negro for the IWRG Intercontinental Welterweight Championship on October 27, 2002. [6] On November 3, 2002, Fantasy lost a Luchas de Apuesta to El Hijo del Diablo and was forced to unmask per Lucha libre tradition. [2] Fantasy held the Welterweight title for 301 days before losing it back to Cerebro Negro on August 24, 2003. In 2004 Fantasy competed in and won IWRG's annual Rey del Ring (a multi-man battle royal similar to the Royal Rumble); with the win he also won the IWRG Intercontinental Middleweight Championship that had been vacant up until that time. [7] Fantasy held the title for 70 days before losing it to Cerebro Negro. [7]

Sensei (2005–present)

In 2005 Fantasy left IWRG and joined Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), changed his gimmick to Sensei and made his debut on June 15, 2005. [1] In 2008 Sensei teamed with Neutron to participate in the CMLL Arena Coliseo Tag Team Title Tournament. In the first round they lost to Nitro and Skandalo. Sensei still work for CMLL, but has not found the success he had in IWRG as he still wrestles in the low card matches, unlike IWRG where he worked the mid-card matches. Ángel de Plata was one of 12 men who put their masks on the line as part of a 12-man steel cage match in the main event of the 2010 Infierno en el Ring .He was the fourth man overall to escape from the cage, keeping his mask safe. In the end Ángel de Oro defeated Fabián el Gitano in the Lucha de Apueta (bet match) portion of the match to unmask him. [8] On November 28, 2012 Sensei won both the Intermediate category and the overall category in CMLL's annual Bodybuilding contest. [9] In March 2013 Sensei was one of 18 wrestlers who competed in the annual Torneo Sangre Nueva ("New Blood Tournament"), a tournament for primarily for young wrestlers but also included the 18 year veteran Sensei. He competed in qualifying block B on March 5, 2013 for a place in the finals, the other wrestlers in Block B included Genesis, Robin, Oro, Jr., Super Halcón Jr., Disturbio, Guerrero Negro, Jr., Inquisidor, Taurus and Zayco who competed in a torneo cibernetico , multi-man elimination match. Sensei eliminated Inquisidor but was eliminated himself by finalist Taurus. [10] In late March, 2013 Sensei was announced as one of the Novatos, or rookies, in the 2013 Torneo Gran Alternativa , or "Great Alternative tournament". The Gran Alternativa pairs a rookie with an experienced wrestler for a tag team tournament. In Sensei's case the "rookie" aspect of the tournament was ignore as he was part of the Novato group [11] Sensei was teamed up with Rush, who was actually less experienced than Sensei. The team competed in Block B that took place on the April 19, 2013 Super Viernes show. The team defeated El Cholo and Rey Bucanero in the first round, but lost to Soberano Jr. and La Sombra in the second round to be eliminated from the tournament. [12]

The IWRG Intercontinental Welterweight Championship is a professional wrestling championship promoted by the Mexican wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) since 1998. The official definition of the Welterweight weight class in Mexico is between 70 kg (150 lb) and 78 kg (172 lb), but the weight limits are not always strictly adhered to. Because Lucha Libre puts more emphasis on the lower weight classes, this division is considered more important than the normally more prestigious heavyweight division of the promotion.

Francisco Javier Pozas is a Mexican professional wrestler, or luchador, who is best known under the ring name El Pantera, but has also worked as Pantera II, El Manaya, América, Tritón and Tanaka over the years. Pozas made his wrestling debut in 1985, working as an enmascarado with a panther-inspired mask to go with his ring character of "El Pantera". Over the years Pozas has worked in Mexico, Japan and the United States; In Mexico he has worked for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), in Japan he's worked for Universal Lucha Libre (ULL) and All-Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) and in the United States he's most known for his work in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from 1997 to 1999 and Chikara where he has worked shows since 2007. In 2006 Pantera lost his mask as a result of a match. He, however, continued wearing the mask when working for Chikara and in 2011 also began wearing it again in Mexico.

Último Vampiro is a wrestling gimmick or character played by at least five people over the years. The character has always started out as an enmascarado, or masked wrestler and only on one occasion has the person playing the Último Vampiro lost his mask. The character is a portrayed as a Vampire and included a mask with stylized bat ears and generally using a black and gray color scheme on the mask and full body suit. The character has primarily been used in International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) and on some locally promoted events. The only exception was the third Último Vampiro who used it while working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) one of Mexico's largest promotions.

Dinamic Black is a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler, currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) portraying a tecnico wrestling character. Dinamic Black's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans.

Golden Magic is a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler, currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) under the ring name Octagón Jr, where he is a former AAA World Trios Champion and the current AAA Latin American Champion, in his first reign.

Esteban Mares Castañeda is a Mexican luchador, or professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Black Terry. Wrestling since 1973, he was once part of a group called Los Temerarios alongside Jose Luis Feliciano and Shu El Guerrero. He has been associated with the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) since his debut in 1996 and has portrayed both a tecnico and a Rudo wrestling character. He is also a licensed Chiropractor.

Ricardo Antonio Morales Gonzalez, better known under the ring name Cerebro Negro, is a Mexican luchador, or masked professional wrestler, currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) portraying a rudo wrestling character as well as a number of independent promotions.

Rafael Ernesto Medina Baeza, better known under the ring name Veneno ("Venom"), is a Panamanian luchador, or professional wrestler, living in Mexico and currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) portraying a tecnico wrestling character. He is related through marriage to the extended Casas wrestling family as his sister, also a wrestler under the ring name Dalys La Caribeña, is married to Negro Casas.

Miguel Ángel Lugo, better known under the ring name Eterno, is a Mexican luchador, or professional wrestler. He currently works for the Mexican professional wrestling promotions Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), Desastre Total Ultraviolento (DTU) and on the Mexican independent circuit portraying a rudo wrestling character.

Juan Carlos Gonzales, better known under the ring name El Hijo del Diablo, is a Mexican luchador, or professional wrestler, currently working on the Mexican Independent circuit and has regularly worked for International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) portraying a rudo wrestling character. He is a founding member of the IWRG group Los Gringos VIP.

Javier Espinosa Romero is a Mexican luchador, or masked professional wrestler, best known under the ring name Tony Rivera. As Rivera he is currently working on the Mexican professional wrestling independent circuit portraying a tecnico wrestling character. Rivera worked for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) for over 10 years, followed by him working on the Mexican independent circuit, particularly for International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) and International Wrestling League (IWL). He originally worked as an Enmascarado or masked wrestler under the ring names Paris and Renegado but has used the name Tony Rivera since 1996. Following his departure from CMLL he became an advocate for wrestlers rights and pay, including Rivera organizing a blockade of one of CMLL's major shows, the 2011 Juicio Final.

Apolo Estrada Jr. is the ring name of Roberto Guadalupe Estrada Zúñiga, a Mexican luchador, or professional wrestler. He is the son of professional wrestler Apolo Estrada and has worked for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) as well as working for many professional wrestling promotions on the Mexican independent circuit. From 2009 to 2015 he was a member of a wrestling group known as Los Gringos VIP and currently forms a team known as Los Insportables with Eterno.

The Caravana de Campeones (2008), Spanish for "Caravan of Champions", was a major professional wrestling show produced and scripted by the Mexican Lucha libre promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG). The event took place on May 29, 2008 in IWRG's main arena Arena Naucalpan. and was the first documented instance of IWRG using the Caravana de Campeones title for one of their shows. It would subsequently become an annual event.

The International Wrestling Revolution Group Anniversary Shows is an annual major lucha libre event produced and scripted by the Mexican International Wrestling Revolution Group. The show is always held on or just after January 1 each year, marking the creation of IWRG on January 1, 1996. The anniversary shows are often, but not always main evented by a Lucha de Apuestas, or "bet match", where a wrestler will put his wrestling mask or hair on the line.

Héctor Juan López Vieyra is a Mexican luchador who is best known for his time with International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) under the ring name Canis Lupus. He has previously worked under the ring name Comando Negro from 2009 to 2012. Near the end of 2012, López took over the Canis Lupus character when the first wrestler to use the name was replaced by IWRG. "Canis Lupus" is Latin for wolf, something that was reflected in the mask, that he wore prior to September 2016, which is adorned with stylized wolf features such as ears.
