Al Maktoum was the first vice president and second prime minister of the United Arab Emirates,and was the ruler of Dubai. He ruled Dubai for 32 years from 1958 until his death in 1990. He was the vice president from the founding of the UAE until his death. Al Maktoum was the first vice president to serve as prime minister concurrently,when he became prime minister on 30 April 1979. The first municipal council in Qatar was formed in the early 1950s and it was reorganized in 1956. Doha municipality came into being in May 1963. The Ministry of Municipal Affairs was established in 1972 as a government body responsible for supervising the functions of municipalities.

Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani is a Qatari royal and the first wife and consort of Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,the Emir of Qatar. A member of the Qatari royal family by birth,she is the daughter of former government minister Sheikh Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani and a grandniece of Emir Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani. She is a second cousin of her husband. As the first wife of the Emir,she accompanied him on an official state visit to Spain in 2022,where she was presented with the Royal Order of Isabella the Catholic by King Felipe,and to the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in 2023.
Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad Al Thani is a Qatari businesswoman. She serves on the board of directors of the Qatar Financial Centre and was appointed as the centre's chief business officer and deputy chief executive officer in 2023. Prior to her appointment,she served as managing director of business development at the centre,launching initiatives to promote employment throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in Qatar. Sheikha Alanoud was the first woman and youngest person to be appointed to the centre's executive committee. In March 2021,she was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. In 2022,she was a recipient of the Arab Woman of the Year Award and was named by Forbes as one of the 50 Most Powerful Businesswomen in the Middle East and North Africa.
