Giriraj Kishore was an Indian writer, who was awarded the Padma Shri by the president of India in 2007. He lived in Kanpur and served as the registrar of IIT Kanpur. He was given the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1992, the Vyas Samman in 2000, and an honorary Ph.D. by Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University in 2002.
Biswin Sadi is an Urdu language literary magazine in India. Founded in 1937, Biswin Sadi is one of the oldest Urdu magazines in India. Many of the top Urdu writers like Amrita Pritam, Kashmiri Lal Zakir, Khushwant Singh, Krishan Chander and Sahir Ludhianwi published in it. The magazine was one of the most widely read Urdu magazines, selling around 40,000 copies per issue at one point. It features content ranging from political satire, cartoons, health news to short stories.
The Smita Patil Memorial Award for Best Actress is an honour established in 1986 by the Priyadarshni Academy in memory of actress Smita Patil. It is awarded every other year to an Indian actress for her contribution to Indian cinema in the period prior to the ceremony, irrespective of a particular performance.
