Tata Projects is an Indian engineering, procurement and construction company. It is a subsidiary of Tata Sons. [2]

History

The company was founded by J. R. D. Tata to create a complete consortium that would take on projects, Division of Tata Sons for engineering procurement and construction projects. [3]

Founded in 1979, the company carries out industrial and urban infrastructure projects. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]

Construction of Data Centres, Manufacturing units, and Life Sciences Facilities adhering to GMP/FDA standards from conception to completion. India's first Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility for Micron at Sanand, Gujarat [9]

Space and nuclear

For the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), it constructs complicated structures and assists on-site integration services. [10] A $321 million order from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) was given to the corporation, marking its third contract in the nuclear power industry. [11]

Power sector

It supports gas-based combined-cycle power plants and balance of plants on an EPC basis for coal based power plants that are operating at supercritical and subcritical temperatures. [12] [13]

Transportation

Its focus areas are airports, niche road projects including expressways and railway infrastructure including mass rapid transit systems and automobile sector. [14]

The company carries out transport and urban development projects for Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). [15] [14] The new terminal at Prayagraj Airport was constructed in a record time of 11 months. [16] Tata Projects building the Dedicated Freight Corridor Project, focusing on both the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor project. [17] [18] The company is also undertaking various underground and elevated metro projects in cities such as Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Chennai. [19] [20] [21] [22] [23] [24] The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, a 21.8 km road bridge, is set to become India's longest sea bridge, connecting Mumbai with Navi Mumbai. Additionally, Tata Projects is working on the Noida International Airport, which is planned to be the largest airport in India and Asia, focusing on the development of the passenger terminal, runway, and other airport infrastructure. Urban infrastructure

In 1990, Tata Projects constructed an international-class hotel in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, highlighting its international expertise in the hospitality sector. [26] Within India, the Bharat Net Project in Chhattisgarh involves laying an extensive optical fibre network to enhance digital connectivity across the region. [27]

The construction of the new Ginger hotel in Santacruz, Mumbai, was notable for its all-women engineering team. [28] The National Maritime Heritage Complex is another key project, designed to celebrate India's rich maritime history with a museum, artificial water body, jetty, and a replica of the ancient Lothal town. [29] The redevelopment of the BDD Chawls in Mumbai focuses on urban renewal and providing improved living conditions.

Additionally, the Shree Mandira Parikrama Prakalpa in Puri aims to enhance the pilgrimage experience with seamless connectivity and modern amenities. [30] A landmark project, Tata Projects built New Parliament House, New Delhi, lotus, peacock, and banyan tree are three national emblems that are incorporated into the interior design. Oil and gas

In 2020, The company received orders of Rs 6,000 crore in oil and gas refinery industry from two state-run businesses. [35]

Metals and minerals

Tata Projects operates iron and steel in different countries and it is capable of building beneficiation plants, sinter plants, pellet plants, blast furnaces, casters and rolling mills on an EPC basis. [36] [37] [38] [39]

Water

In 2017, Tata Projects and Watergen of Israel began initiatives that aim to extract drinking water from the atmosphere. [40] In Connaught Place in New Delhi, Watergen installed a GEN-350G pilot where 2,000 people received drinking water from the air each day. [41]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Expressways of India</span> List of Expressways in India

Expressways are the highest class of roads in India. In July 2023, the total length of expressways in India was 5,930 km (3,680 mi), with 10,225.69 km (6,353.95 mi) under construction. These are controlled-access highways where entrance and exits are controlled by the use of cloverleaf or trumpet or grade separated interchanges that are incorporated into the design of the expressway and designed for maximum speed of 120 km/h, whereas National highways are flyover access or tolled, where entrance and exit is through the side of the flyover, at each intersection of highway with road, flyovers are provided to bypass the city/town/village traffic and these highways are designed for speed of 100 km/h. Some roads are not access-controlled expressways but are still named expressways, such as the Bagodara–Tarapur Expressway, Biju Expressway, these are actually state highways that are not declared by the central government as an Expressway, hence not an Expressway or National Highway.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mumbai Trans Harbour Link</span> Sea bridge in India

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, officially named as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri–Nhava Sheva Atal Setu and colloquially known as Atal Setu, is a 21.8 km (13.5 mi) 6-lane elevated highway bridge, which connects Mumbai with Navi Mumbai, its satellite city. It is the longest sea bridge in India, and the world's 12th longest sea bridge. The bridge begins in Sewri, South Mumbai, crosses Thane Creek north of Elephanta Island, and terminates at Chirle near Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka, Navi Mumbai. The road is linked to the Mumbai–Pune Expressway in the east and to the Coastal Road in the west. The 6-lane highway is 27 meters in width, in addition to two emergency exit lanes, two edge strips, parallel crash barriers and noise barriers on both sides. The project costs a total of 17,843 crore (US$2.1 billion). The bridge has a capacity to handle 70,000 vehicles per day. Construction on the bridge began in April 2018, and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 12 January 2024.

IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited, is an Indian highway construction company headed by Mr. Virendra Dattatraya Mhaiskar. It was incorporated in 1998, with its headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is part of the IRB Group and was ranked 200th in the Fortune India 500 list in 2020. IRB Infrastructure, which executed the country's first build-operate-transfer (BOT) road project, is one of the largest operators of such ventures. Currently it has about 3,404 lane Km operational and about 2,330 lane Km under development. Among its notable projects are the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway. In 2012, IRB acquired Tamil Nadu based BOT road builder MVR Infrastructure and Tollways for 130 crore. The company got the contract of Ganga Expressway, the longest under-construction expressway in Uttar Pradesh.

Dholera International Airport is an under-construction international airport and a greenfield airport, which will serve the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) in Gujarat, India. It is being built near Navagam in the Dholera taluka of Ahmedabad district. The project site is spread over 1,426 hectares about 80 km (50 mi) from Ahmedabad and around 20 km (12 mi) from the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). 75 hectares of government land has been allocated for commercial development.

The Gorakhpur Nuclear Power Plant or the Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana (GHAVP) is a proposed nuclear power plant to be built on a 560 hectares area west of Gorakhpur village of Fatehabad district of Haryana.

Line 3 (Aqua Line) of the Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit metro line in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. When completed, the 33.5 km (20.8 mi) long line will be the first underground metro line in Mumbai, with 27 underground stations and one at-grade station. The line will run from Navy Nagar in the far-south of Mumbai to Aarey Depot in the north-centre, and will include connections to other metro lines, monorail, suburban rail, inter-city rail, and Mumbai's International Airport. Line 3 is expected to reduce road congestion as well as the load on the Western Line between Bandra and Churchgate.

Line 2 (Yellow Line) of the Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit metro line in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The line connects Dahisar in the northwest with Mandale in Mankhurd via Andheri, BKC and Chembur in the east. Phase One of Line 2A was partially opened on 2 April 2022 from Dahisar East to Dahanukarwadi.

Line 7 (Red Line) of the Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit metro line in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. When completed, the 30.08 km (18.69 mi) line will connect Bhayander with the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with 24 stations. The line is mostly elevated except for the 2.49 km (1.55 mi) underground twin tunnels at its southern terminus.

Line 5 (Orange Line) of the Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit metro line in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. When completed, the 24.9 km (15.5 mi) line will connect Thane with Kalyan via Bhiwandi, with 17 stations. The line will be fully elevated except for a 3 km underground section in Bhiwandi.

The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is a 1,350 km long, 8-lane wide under-construction access-controlled expressway connecting India's national capital New Delhi to its financial capital Mumbai. The foundation stone for the project was laid by union minister Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley on 8 March 2019 and is inaugurated by PM Modi. The total project value including the land acquisition cost is around ₹1,00,000 crores .
