Felicia Morris, better known by her stage name, The Poetess, is an American rapper and radio personality.
Morris made her radio debut at the age of five on KDIA-AM, [1] a soul station in the San Francisco Bay Area, where her father, Johnny Morris, worked as a disc jockey. She later moved to Los Angeles and got her first broadcasting experience as a co-host on Bailey Broadcasting's nationally syndicated "Hip Hop Countdown and Report". Since 1989, she has appeared regularly on the radio as an authority on black music.
Morris directed her long-term interest in poetry into writing rap songs, and was offered a recording contract with Poetic Groove/Interscope Records in 1992. Her debut album Simply Poetry featured guest appearances from Jamie Foxx, Def Jef and Kool G. Rap. [2] The first single from the album, "Love Hurts", made the Top 10 on The Gavin Report's Rap Radio Charts. [3]
Morris joined the staff of Los Angeles station KKBT/92.3 The Beat (later 100.3 The Beat) in 1994. As a DJ she introduced the music of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill, and conducted interviews with various musicians and celebrities. She subsequently became the community affairs director for 100.3 The Beat, discussing issues such as gang violence, economic empowerment and health awareness, and organizing voter registration drives, school supply give-a-ways, community rallies, and health awareness campaigns.
Morris left KKBT-FM Los Angeles in 2007 after 13 years, and a year later joined The Foxxhole on Sirius XM radio, a comedy and entertainment network executive produced by Jamie Foxx. Morris served as co-host and mistress of information on The Jamie Foxx Show, and produced The Sheryl Underwood Show, 5150 Show with Corey Holcomb, Voice of Reason with Zo Williams, and The Foxxhole Comedy Corner. Morris is currently the owner of Morris Media Studios, a professional podcast studio in Los Angeles.

He received acclaim for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the film Ray (2004), winning the Academy Award, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. That same year, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the crime film Collateral.
Marie Antoinette Wright, better known by her stage name, Free, is an American media personality, television producer, choreographer and philanthropist. She became known as the first host of Black Entertainment Television's 106 & Park until 2005. She was later as a disc jockey at KKBT 100.3 The Beat in L.A., serving as a morning drive co-host at WPGC-FM in Washington, D.C., and is the former co-host of The Ed Lover Morning Show on Power 105.1 in New York.
Marsha Ambrosius-Billups is an English singer and songwriter. She began her musical career as a member of the R&B duo Floetry. Ambrosius released her debut solo album Late Nights & Early Mornings in 2011.
KKLQ is a non-commercial FM radio station owned by Educational Media Foundation (EMF) and carries the contemporary Christian music format of its nationally syndicated network K-Love throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. Licensed to Los Angeles, California, KKLQ's transmitter is located atop Mount Wilson and has a booster in Santa Clarita, KKLQ-FM2 at 100.3 MHz, to extend its coverage into the Santa Clarita Valley and other areas north of Los Angeles.
KSCA is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Glendale, California and broadcasting to the Greater Los Angeles area. KSCA is owned by TelevisaUnivision, and it airs a Regional Mexican radio format. The station has studios and offices on Center Drive in West Los Angeles. KSCA's transmitter is on Mount Wilson.
KRRL – branded Real 92.3 – is a commercial urban contemporary radio station licensed to Los Angeles, California, serving much of the Greater Los Angeles area. Owned by iHeartMedia, KRRL serves as the flagship for Big Boy's Neighborhood. The KRRL studios are located in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank, while the station transmitter resides on Mount Wilson. Besides a standard analog transmission, KRRL broadcasts over two HD Radio channels, and is available online via iHeartRadio.
KYSR is a commercial radio station licensed to Los Angeles, California, and owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. KYSR broadcasts an alternative rock format and is the flagship station of syndicated morning drive time program The Woody Show. The KYSR studios are on West Olive Avenue in Burbank.
"Gold Digger" is a song by American rapper Kanye West, featuring singer Jamie Foxx, from West's second studio album, Late Registration (2005). The song includes additional vocals from Plain Pat and Don C. West created the beat in Atlanta. He and Jon Brion produced the song. It was originally set to be recorded for Shawnna's debut studio album, Worth Tha Weight (2004), but the song was later passed on to West. On July 5, 2005, it was released to American rhythmic contemporary radio stations by Roc-A-Fella and Def Jam as the second single from West's album. The song set a record for the most digital downloads in a week, selling over 80,000.
KDAY is a radio station that is licensed to Redondo Beach, California and serves the Greater Los Angeles area. The station is owned by Meruelo Media and airs a classic hip hop format. The station's studios are located in Burbank and its transmitter is in Baldwin Hills. KDAY also extends its signal coverage into the Inland Empire by adding a full power simulcast, KDEY-FM in Ontario, California to fill in all of the overlapping and gaping issues and problems in its eastern coverage area.
Peep This is the debut studio album by American singer and actor Jamie Foxx, then of In Living Color fame. It was released on July 19, 1994, by Fox Records. The album peaked at #78 on the Billboard 200. The album received mixed to negative reviews.
Richard Preston Butler Jr., better known by his stage name Rico Love, is an American record producer, songwriter, singer, and rapper. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but split his childhood between Milwaukee, Wisconsin and New York City's Harlem neighborhood. He attended Florida A&M and, while visiting Atlanta, Georgia, worked his way into the music industry through connections with singer Usher, who would become one of Butler's frequent collaborators.
Sway Calloway is an American journalist, radio personality, executive producer and former rapper. Known as Sway, he is known for hosting music, news, and culture programming. He was an on-air reporter and host for MTV News and occasional non-news hosting, including numerous red carpet MTV award pre-shows, and reports on major events, concluding his tenure with the network as host of the short-lived TRLAM. He is co-hosting the nationally syndicated radio show The Wake Up Show as as one half of the duo Sway & King Tech; and hosting Sway in the Morning on SiriusXM Shade45.
KBLA is a broadcast radio station in the United States. Licensed to Santa Monica, California, KBLA serves the Greater Los Angeles area. The station is owned by Multicultural Broadcasting, through licensee Multicultural Radio Broadcasting Licensee, LLC, and operated by pending owner Tavis Smiley with an urban/progressive talk format.
"Slow Jamz" is a song by American rapper Twista featuring fellow American musicians Jamie Foxx and Kanye West. Produced by the latter, it was released in November 2003 through Atlantic and Roc-A-Fella Records, as the lead single from Twista's fourth studio album Kamikaze (2004), and the second single from West's debut studio album The College Dropout (2004). The song was written by Twista and West, with additional writing credits going to Burt Bacharach and Hal David for the sampling of Luther Vandross' cover of Dionne Warwick's 1964 song "A House Is Not A Home". Containing genres of hip hop, pop rap, R&B, and soul, the song's lyrics reference slow jam artists and describes the role of lovermen.
The Foxxhole was an uncensored comedy channel on Sirius XM Radio channel 96. Presented by actor/comedian/musician Jamie Foxx, the network broadcasts a variety of comedy and urban music such as hip-hop and R&B in addition to live talk shows broadcast during the weekdays. The channel originally debuted on Sirius 106 on May 17, 2007, and began broadcasting simultaneously on XM 149 on November 12, 2008, until both services moved The Foxxhole to channel 96 on May 4, 2011.
