Toni Sant (born 1968) is a Maltese academic and former radio and television presenter, producer and music journalist. He is Director of Digital Media & Film Production at Salford University [1] and was formerly Reader in Digital Curation at the University of Hull's School of Arts & New Media [2] on the Scarborough campus, England.

Sant has a B.A. in Theatre Studies from the University of Malta and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Performance Studies from New York University. [3] His publications include the book Franklin Furnace & the Spirit of the Avant-Garde: A History of the Future (2011, Intellect, ISBN   978-1841503714) about the Franklin Furnace Archive arts organisation in New York. [4]

Sant joined Radio Malta in 1986 as a journalist on music programmes such as Kważi Kull Filgħaxija (1988/89), Mill-Garaxx (TVM - 1989/90), Il-Fil tat-Tiġdid (1989), Mal-20 bid-Daqq (1989/90), Immaġina: John Lennon (Radju Malta - 1990), Blast (TVM - 1990), Tutti Frutti (TVM - 1991). His television career included commentary for Malta at the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest.[ citation needed ]

In December 1991, Sant left TVM to begin a career as television and radio producer and programme manager for Radio One Live which produces Music programmes. Sant also remained associated with TVM as he produced music programmes for the station.[ citation needed ]

Sant was previously Senior Lecturer in Performance & Creative Technologies and Director of Research in the School of Arts and New Media at the University of Hull. [3]

He has also been Education Organiser for Wikimedia UK. [5] He is the artistic director of Spazju Kreattiv (formerly the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity), Malta's national centre for creativity. [6] [7]

Currently Sant remains associated with music by broadcasting podcasts on his website. [8]

Franklin Furnace Archive, Inc. is an arts organization-in-residence at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Since its inception in 1976, Franklin Furnace has been identifying, presenting, archiving, and making avant-garde art available to the public. Franklin Furnace focuses on time-based art forms that may be vulnerable due to institutional neglect, cultural bias, politically unpopular content or their ephemeral or experimental nature. Franklin Furnace is dedicated to serving emerging artists by providing both physical and virtual venues for the presentation of time-based art, including but not limited to artists' books and periodicals, site-specific installations, performance art, and live art on the internet.

Martha Wilson is an American feminist performance artist and the founding director of Franklin Furnace Archive art organization. Over the past four decades she has developed and "created innovative photographic and video works that explore her female subjectivity through role-playing, costume transformation, and 'invasions' of other peoples personas". Helen Varley Jamieson is a digital media artist, playwright, performer, director and producer from New Zealand. She "is engaged in an ongoing exploration of the collision between theatre and the internet." Since 1997 she has been working on the internet professionally. In the year 2000 Helen Varley Jamieson coined the term cyberformance. This term is a combination of two words, cyberspace and performance. Jamieson states that "cyberformance can be located as a distinct form within the subsets of networked performance and digital performance, and within the overall form of theatre, as it is a live performance form with an audience that is complicit in the completion of the work in real time."

Although Malta is a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea with a small population, it is nonetheless rich in its history and its culture. When in the 1950s, in nearby Italy the San Remo Festival, and later in Switzerland, the Eurovision Song Contest came into existence, Malta soon followed suit by organizing its own National Song Festival.

A composer and researcher specializing in multimodal interaction, she is the Creator and Director of the AlloSphere at the California NanoSystems Institute and the Creator and Director of the Center for Research in Electronic Art Technology (CREATE) at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Kuchera-Morin initiated and was Chief Scientist of the University of California Digital Media Innovation Program (DiMI) from 1998 to 2003.

Davide Tucci is a Maltese-Italian actor and model, winner of Best Male Photo-model Award 2010 and 2011 at the Malta Fashion Awards. He was born on 14 September 1987 in Isola del Liri to an Italian father and a Maltese mother. Later his family moved to the Maltese Islands. He attended St Aloysius College.

Marja Samsom is an international conceptual performance artist. She was connected to the early conceptual art movement in Amsterdam and has been living and working in New York City since the 1980s. Samsom's work has been presented by De Appel, The Clocktower, Franklin Furnace, and Participant Inc, and featured in the New York Times and Vogue.
