The 2000 Superbike World Championship was the thirteenth FIM Superbike World Championship season. The season started on 2 April at Kyalami and finished on 15 October at Brands Hatch after 13 rounds.

Colin Edwards won the riders' championship on a Honda RC51 (also known as VTR1000) in its first production year with 8 victories and Ducati won the manufacturers' championship.

Noriyuki Haga Japanese motorcycle racer

Noriyuki Haga is a Japanese former professional motorcycle racer. He won 43 world championship superbike races during a 25 year racing career, making him one of the most accomplished competitors never to have won a Superbike World Championship. Haga was the runner-up in the championship three times and, four times finished in third place. His 43 victories ranks fourth all time in the history of the Superbike World Championship behind Jonathan Rea, Carl Fogarty and Troy Bayliss. Haga ranks fourth behind Troy Corser, Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea in career World Superbike race starts with 313. He last competed in the 2018 CIV Supersport 600 Championship, aboard a Yamaha YZF-R6.

Troy Bayliss Australian motorcycle racer

Troy Bayliss is an Australian motorcycle racer. During his career Bayliss won the Superbike World Championship three times and a MotoGP race, all with Ducati. He finished his career after winning the 2008 World Superbike title. His 52 World Superbike victories ranks third all time in the history of the championship behind Jonathan Rea and Carl Fogarty.

Neil Hodgson British motorcycle racer

Neil Stuart Hodgson is a British former motorcycle racer, who won the 2000 British Superbike Championship, and the 2003 Superbike World Championship titles. He then went on to have a moderately successful four years in the American Superbike Championship, with a best 5th place championship finish.

Fonsi Nieto Spanish motorcycle racer

Alfonso González Nieto, better known as Fonsi Nieto, is a former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer and the nephew of successful Grand Prix motorcycle road racer Ángel Nieto. After success in the 250cc class he moved to World Superbikes and made one MotoGP start. For 2010 he returned to the Grand Prix scene in the newly formed Moto2 category. Nieto announced his retirement from competition in early 2011 after failing to recover from injuries suffered when racing at Indianapolis in 2010.

Miguel Duhamel is a Canadian former professional motorcycle racer. He is the son of Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame member Yvon Duhamel. He is tied with Toni Elias for the fourth-winningest rider in the AMA Superbike series with 32 wins. Duhamel was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2016.

Eugene Laverty is a professional motorcycle road racer from Northern Ireland, the brother of Michael and John.

Rob McElnea is a British former professional motorcycle road racer. At the peak of his career he raced six seasons in the MotoGP, then named 500cc Grand Prix Championship. He also competed for five years in the World Superbike Championship and became British Superbike Champion in 1990. McElnea went on to run the very successful Rob Mac Racing team in the British Superbike Championship for over a decade until 2011.

Alessandro Gramigni Italian motorcycle racer

Alessandro Gramigni is an Italian former professional motorcycle racer. He competed in Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 1990 to 1997 and in the Superbike World Championship from 1998 to 2003. Gramigni is notable for winning the 1992 F.I.M. 125cc world championship.

Ten Kate Racing

Ten Kate Racing is a motorcycle racing team competing in World Supersport with 2022 rider Dominique Aegerter. They previously competed in the Superbike World Championship with 2019 rider Loris Baz, previously with Gulf Althea Racing BMW Motorrad. The re-built team participated in a part-season from June.

Niccolò Canepa Italian motorcycle racer

Niccolò Canepa is an Italian professional motorcycle road racer contracted from 2022 to RNF Racing in the MotoE World Cup aboard an Energica Ego Corsa. Canepa won the 2007 European Superstock 1000 Championship on a Ducati, and spent 2008 as a tester of their MotoGP and World Superbike machines.

Superbike racing is a category of motorcycle racing that employs highly modified production motorcycles, as opposed to MotoGP in which purpose-built motorcycles are used. The Superbike World Championship is the official world championship series, though national Superbike championships are held in many countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Australia and Canada. Superbike racing is generally popular with manufacturers, since it helps promote and sell their product, as captured by the slogan "Win on Sunday; Sell on Monday".
