<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Slovak parliamentary election</span>

Early parliamentary elections were held in the Slovak Republic on 30 September 2023 to elect members of the National Council. Regular elections were scheduled to be held in 2024. However, on 15 December 2022 the government lost a no-confidence vote. Subsequently, the National Council amended the Constitution so that an early election could be held on 30 September 2023. This was the first snap election in the country since 2012.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Karol Mikuláš</span> Slovak miner, partisan and political prisoner (1922–2023)

Karol Mikuláš was a Slovak miner, partisan, and political prisoner. He participated in the 1940 Handlová miners strike against the Fascist regime of the World War II era Slovak Republic and later fought as a partisan in the Slovak National Uprising. In 1955 he was arrested and sentenced to hard labor in an uranium mine by the Communist regime of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Shortly before his death, he received the Order of Ľudovít Štúr 1st class as a recognition of lifelong dedication to the values of democracy.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Attempted assassination of Robert Fico</span> 2024 shooting in Handlová, Slovakia

On 15 May 2024, Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico was shot and critically injured in the central Slovakian town of Handlová, in front of its House of Culture after a government meeting. He was hospitalised and stabilised after emergency surgery. The suspect, Juraj Cintula, a 71-year-old man who opposed Fico's national and international policies, was detained by police at the scene.
