Adam Mamawala (born May 18, 1987, Aurora, Illinois) is an American stand-up comic. He makes use of accents and laughs at his own name as means of diffusing and parodying stereotypes of South Asians.
Mamawala graduated from Hillsborough High School in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey in 2005 and graduated from The College of New Jersey in Ewing Township, New Jersey with a degree in Communication Studies in 2009. [1] [2] [3] He is of half-Indian and half-German ancestry. [2] [3]
Mamawala was featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education . [3] His signature comedy routine is "about a GPS system that (speaks) in different accents ...." [3]
Mamawala was a finalist in Catch a Rising Star's Comedy Challenge in November 2006, which allowed him an opportunity to perform in Atlantic City in December 2006. [1] [3] [4] From there, he won the 2007 New Jersey Comedy Festival, where he was crowned "New Jersey King of Campus Comedy." [3] [5] Adam performed frequently on campus during his time at The College of New Jersey, and in 2009 he hosted the New Jersey Comedy Festival. He also performed with Kel Mitchell at a charity show in June 2008, and in November 2009 he opened for Nigel Lawrence at Boston University's BU Central. [6]
He has performed throughout different comedy clubs, including Caroline's, Comix, New York, Broadway, Gotham Comedy Clubs, [7] and The Stress Factory. [8]

Hillsborough Township is a township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Located in the Raritan Valley region, the township is a suburban and exurban bedroom community of New York City within the New York Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 43,276, an increase of 4,973 (+13.0%) from the 2010 census count of 38,303, which in turn reflected an increase of 1,669 (+4.6%) from the 36,634 counted in the 2000 census.
Stockton University is a public university in Galloway Township, New Jersey. It is part of New Jersey's public system of higher education. It is named for Richard Stockton, one of the New Jersey signers of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Founded in 1969, Stockton accepted its charter class in 1971. At its opening in 1971, classes were held at the Mayflower Hotel in Atlantic City; the campus in Galloway Township began operating late in 1971. Nearly 10,000 students are enrolled at Stockton and it is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The university has a second campus in Atlantic City.

Rowan University is a public research university in Glassboro, New Jersey, with a medical campus in Stratford and medical and academic campuses in Camden. Founded in 1923 as Glassboro Normal School on a 25-acre (10 ha) site donated by 107 residents, the school was formerly known as Glassboro State College from 1958 until 1992 and Rowan College of New Jersey from 1992 to 1997.

In 2013, he was number three on Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid comedians, and became the first comedian to get a Netflix stand-up special. He also won the Peabody Award and the International Emmy Award for Best Arts Programming for producing Hip-Hop Evolution (2016). He lives in Los Angeles.
Flight of the Conchords is a New Zealand musical comedy duo formed in Wellington in 1998. The band consists of multi-instrumentalists Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. Beginning as a popular live comedy act in the early 2000s, the duo's comedy and music became the basis of the self-titled BBC radio series (2005) and, subsequently, the HBO American television series (2007–2009). Most recently, they released the HBO comedy special Live in London in 2018. The special was concurrently released by Sub Pop as their fifth album.

Students from Millstone also attend the school, after Millstone was integrated into the Hillsborough district, prior to which they had attended as part of a sending/receiving relationship.

He is the author of the 2012 memoir Kasher in the Rye: The True Tale of a White Boy from Oakland Who Became a Drug Addict, Criminal, Mental Patient, and Then Turned 16. In 2009, iTunes named Kasher "Best New Comic" and his comedy album Everyone You Know Is Going to Die, and Then You Are! was ranked one of the top 20 comedy albums on iTunes that same year. He was also named "Comic to Watch in 2010" by Punchline Magazine.
