Aisha Syed Castro (born September 15, 1989) is a Dominican Republic violinist and a member of the Yehudi Menuhin School orchestra. [1]
Aisha was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, the daughter of Saifuddin Syed, of Pakistani descent and Carolina Castro. She is the second of four children. She has three siblings: one sister, Sabah, and two brothers, Kabir and Kareem.
She started studying violin and flute when she was four years old at El Hogar de la Armonia in the City of Santiago, Dominican Republic with Professor Henry Disla. Then she traveled twice a week to Santo Domingo to take classes with Maestro Hipolito Javier Guerrero, years later became Maestro Caonex Peguero's student . By the age of six she was already a member of the Children's Symphony Orchestra.
At 11 she debuted with the National Symphony Orchestra, becoming their youngest solo performer. The same year she attended a symposium on the violin at the Juilliard School in New York City. [2]
In 2002, following a two-year audition process, she entered the Yehudi Menuhin School in London. She was the first Latin American to be admitted to the school. She passed all the tests and secured a scholarship from the British government.
Aisha presently resides in London, and has performed 57 concerts in Europe and the Dominican Republic. [3]
In 2001, she performed at the National Theater in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
In 2007 she shared the stage with Michel Camilo Dominican Jazz Player at the Casandra Awards [4] and shared a scene with pianist Jeremy Menuhin. [5]
In 2009, she performed at the National Theater in Santo Domingo for the Casandra Awards. In March that year, she shared the stage at the Eilat Festival in Israel with performers of classical music such as violinist Julian Rachlin, Aleksey Igudessman, Pavel Vernikov and Boris Kushnir. She was directed by director and violinist Maxim Vengerov. [6] She was later selected by Israeli composer Noam Sheriff to perform the world premiere of his Concerto Canarian Vespers, at the Menuhin Festival Gstaad in July 2009 in Gstaad, Switzerland. [7]
As a soloist she has performed in festivals such as Claygate, Shipley, Summer, Royal Tunbridge Wells International Music, Thaxted and Bath. Her other performances include fundraising in Europe at The Leatherhead Charities, Princess Trusts, Rainbow and Save the Children. She also performed at the Royal Festival Hall a concert called "Moving Young Minds". She performed for the Diplomatic Corps in the City of London, for the commemoration of the Independence of the Dominican Republic at the Bolivar Hall.[ when? ]
In January 2009, Syed won an international contest in which three thousand young people from 20 countries took part. [8] She won the Cassandra 2009 as an International Violinist.
Yehudi Menuhin, Baron Menuhin, was an American-born British violinist and conductor who spent most of his performing career in Britain. He is widely considered one of the great violinists of the 20th century. He played the Soil Stradivarius, considered one of the finest violins made by Italian luthier Antonio Stradivari.
Quisqueya Stadium Juan Marichal is a baseball stadium in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It is often used as a multi-use stadium. Football club Atlético Pantoja used the venue for their inaugural Caribbean football championship match. The Quisqueya holds about 14,469 people after its renovation. The Dominican League of Baseball Authority is in charge of its management.
The Palacio de los Deportes Virgilio Travieso Soto is an 8,337-seat multi-purpose arena in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, built in 1974 for the XII Central American and Caribbean Games. It currently hosts local sporting events and concerts and held the basketball games during the 2003 Pan American Games. It is known as "La Media Naranja" for its characteristic orange roof. The arena is also used in the Miss Dominican Republic Pageant. It also hosted games from the 2010 World Youth Women's Handball Championship.
Miguel Ángel Valerio Lebrón, better known by his stage name Don Miguelo, is a Dominican rapper in the Reggaeton genre. He became famous with his smash hit "La Cola De Motora" and he has twice been awarded with the Casandra Awards.

Ramón Orlando received seven Casandra awards in the 1992 ceremony, including the Soberano, which is the most important category in the Dominican awards ceremony. Jiménez was appointed Minister of Youth by President Luis Abinader on December 9, 2020 and was in office till December 5, 2021. She previously served as the Deputy Minister of Planning and Development for the Ministry of Youth. She is the third woman to be appointed Minister of Youth.

He was elected deputy in 2010 for a period of 6 years, but in 2014 he resigned to take over as Minister of Energy and Mines. La Travesia World Tour is the world tour by the Dominican superstar Juan Luis Guerra Tour promote his 10th studio album La Llave de Mi Corazón. It was his longest tour at the time and consisted in six legs, 54 shows and visited United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia, where his made his debut in Japan. Also, it was his biggest international tour in more than a decade, marking his first time in many years that he performed in countries such as Ecuador, Paraguay and Costa Rica since the Bachata Rosa World Tour. The tour kick off on July 12, 2008, and ended on December 5, 2009, in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The La Leyenda del Dembow Tour was the first world tour by Dominican dembow superstar El Alfa in support of his studio albums El Androide (2020) and Sabiduria (2022). The tour consisted on three legs. The first leg, was his the first arena tour on the United States, the second on a series of music festivals on Europe and concluded in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The tour included a sellout concert in New York, Madison Square Garden which receive positive reviews by critcs becoming the first Dominican urban act to do so. On July 16, El Alfa performed at Estadio Olimpico in Santo Domingo, in front of 50,000 fans, becoming just the seventh Dominican act to sold out the venue and the first urban act to do so.
