Alas de Oro

The Alas de Oros (Spanish for "Wings of Gold") is an annual professional wrestling tournament held by the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA). The tournament features young high-fliers, hence the "Wings of Gold" moniker, who are either low-card or mid-card workers at the time of the tournament. The "Alas de Oro" title is not defended outside the tournament like AAA's Reina de Reinas title is. The tournament was created in 2007 and saw Extreme Tiger win the first Alas de Oro, in 2008 Aero Star won the tournament. [1]

Alas de Oro 2007

The first Alas de Oro tournament featured an eight-man elimination match where two wrestlers were in the ring at the same time while the remaining competitors stayed on the floor. If a wrestler was eliminated or left the ring a wrestler from the outside could enter the ring to continue the match. The tournament took place on July 27, 2007 and included Real Fuerza Aérea (Laredo Kid, Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Aero Star and Super Fly), Hombre sin Miedo, Extreme Tiger and Escoria. Escoria was the sole Rudo (Heel or bad guy) in the match. [2] Extreme Tiger won the match eliminating Super Fly as the last competitor. Extreme Tiger was the competitor with the most eliminations, three (Super Fly, Hombre Sin Miedo and Laredo Kid). [2]

Real Fuerza Aérea was a Mexican professional wrestling group, or stable, active in the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Asistencia, Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and consists of young tecnicos who all use a high flying, high risk wrestling style.

Laredo Kid Mexican professional wrestler

Laredo Kid is a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler. He is currently under contract wil Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, where he is the AAA World Cruiserweight Champion and AAA World Trios Champion in his first reign.

Pegasso is a Mexican Luchador enmascarado working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Pegasso worked from Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) from 2000 until 2008, where he was a part of the wrestling stable Real Fuerza Aérea. Pegasso's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. The name Pegasso is Spanish for Pegasus, a winged horse from the Greek mythology. He has also wrestled as "Hombre sin Nombre" and "Pegasso Xtreme".

Alas de Oro 2008

The 2008 version of Alas de Oro was held on August 8, 2008 and this year included nine wrestlers in the same elimination match format that was used for the 2007 event. There were four wrestlers from the 2007 match that also participated in the 2008 version, including the previous winner Extreme Tiger as well as Aero Star, Escoria and Super Fly. In the 2008 event there was a more balanced Tecnico/Rudo mix than in 2007 as Rudos Jack Evans and Teddy Hart competed alongside Último Gladiador, El Ángel and Gato Eveready. [1] Extreme Tigre was eliminated second to last, just before Aero Star pinned Jack Evans to win the match. [1] During the pinfall Jack Evans kicked out for a controversial finish. A rematch a few weeks later saw Aero Star get a clean, decisive victory over Evans to eliminate any doubt about who won the Alas de Oro.

Aero Star Mexican professional wrestler

Aero Star is a Mexican luchador, which is a masked professional wrestler currently signed to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). Aero Star won the 2008 Alas de Oro tournament and is known for his high risk moves off the top rope or off the arena's lighting structures.

José Ibarra is a Mexican Luchador (wrestler) who is best known as Escoria / Dark Escoria, a face character that works for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). Ibarra has been part of The Black Family since it was formed, but left the stable in October 2010. During his time in the Black Family, Escoria was also a member of Lucha Libre Latina (LLL) and La Secta del Mesias, its predecessor La Secta Cibernetica and La Legión Extranjera.

Erick Aguilar Muñoz is a Mexican luchador better known by the ring name Super Fly. He works for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) where he has worked since 2005. Super Fly is best known as a tecnico and the co-leader of the AAA wrestling group Real Fuerza Aérea, but has recently turned rudo and joined the group La Milicia and its umbrella group La Sociedad. Super Fly is the son of luchador El Seminarista, not to be confused with one of his trainers, Skayde, who has also wrestled under the same ring name.

Rey de Reyes 2009 was a major professional wrestling event produced by AAA, which took place on March 15, 2009 at the Plaza de Toros Nuevo Progresso Bullfighting arena in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The event was the 13th event produced under the Rey de Reyes name and also the 13th time that the Rey de Reyes tournament was held. Electroshock won the tournament, while El Mesias successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against Chessman. The event also saw the surprise debuts of Marco Corleone and Dr. Wagner Jr. as well as the surprise return of Juventud Guerrera to the promotion.

Triplemanía XVII 2009 Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event

Triplemanía XVII was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by the AAA promotion, which took place on June 13, 2009 at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico. It was the year an event was held under the Triplemanía chronology. Triplemanía XVII was the third Triplemanía event to take place in Mexico City, and the second to take place in Palacio de los Deportes, site of the previous Triplemanía XVI as well. The show drew close to 16.000 spectators, down from the previous years 19.000 spectators in the same venue. The Triplemanía set reduced the capacity of the arena compared to the previous year but it was not a complete sell out.

Mario Alberto González is a Mexican Luchador, best known by his ring name Rey Cometa. He is working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). Rey Cometa first gained national exposure when he worked for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) from 2005 until 2008. In AAA he was a part of the group Real Fuerza Aérea, consisting of young high flying wrestlers. As is usual with masked wrestlers in Mexico, Cometa's real name was not a matter of public record until he lost his mask in a match in September 2012. He is a former holder of the Mexican National Welterweight Championship.

Tigre Uno is a Mexican professional wrestler. He is best known for his time with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, where he is a one-time X Division Champion. Outside of the United States he is best known for his work in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), where he is a former two-time holder of the AAA Cruiserweight and AAA World Tag Team Championships and the 2011 Rey de Reyes tournament winner as Extreme Tiger.

Antonio Peña Memorial Show (2008) 2008 Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event

The 2008 Antonio Peña Memorial Show was the second show held in honor of the deceased Antonio Peña, owner and creator of the Mexican Lucha Libre, or professional wrestling, company AAA. The show was held near the second anniversary of Peña's death from a heart attack. The main focus of the show was the second annual Copa Antonio Peña which was won by El Mesias as he survived a 13-man Gauntlet match defeating Pirata Morgan, El Elegido, Psicosis II, Dark Escoria, Silver King, Crazy Boy and Dark Cuervo one by one to win the Copa. The main event of the show saw La Legión Extranjera defeat "Team AAA". As a result of the win Konnan became the storyline owner of AAA. In the third main event of the evening Cibernético successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against Chessman and El Zorro. The event has since been retrospectively renamed Héroes Inmortales II.

Antonio Peña Memorial Show (2007) 2007 Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event

The 2007 Antonio Peña Memorial Show was the first show to honor the deceased Antonio Peña, owner and creator of the Mexican Lucha Libre, or professional wrestling, company Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA). The show was held approximately one year after Peña died of a heart attack. The main focus of the show was the first ever Copa Antonio Peña which was won by Charly Manson as he survived a 12-man gauntlet match eliminating Alan Stone, Konnan and Scott Hall to win the Copa. Also on the show was a Domo De La Muerte cage match that saw Chessman come out as the loser in the match and thus had to have his hair shaved off. The undercard featured four additional matches. The show also saw the surprise return of Nicho El Millonario and Electroshock and the surprise appearance of Scott Hall. The event has since been retrospectively renamed Héroes Inmortales I.

Rey de Reyes (2006) 2006 Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event

The Rey de Reyes 2006 was the tenth annual Rey de Reyes professional wrestling tournament and show, produced by the Mexican wrestling promotion AAA. The event took place on March 11, 2005 in the Convention Center in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The main focus of the 2006 Rey de Reyes show was the tenth annual Rey de Reyes tournament which was contested as a multiman elimination match that saw four teams of three compete against each other until one man remained in the end. The teams were: Team AAA, La Secta Cibernetica, Team TNA and Los Guapos. The undercard included a traditional six man "Lucha Libre rules" tag team match between two of AAA’s stables in Los Diabolicos and Real Fuerza Aérea.

Rey de Reyes (2007) 2007 Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event

The Rey de Reyes 2007 was the fourth 11th Rey de Reyes professional wrestling tournament and show, produced by the Mexican wrestling promotion AAA. The event took place on March 18, 2007 in the Toreo de Cuatro Caminos arena in Naucalpan, Mexico State, Mexico. The main focus of the 2007 Rey de Reyes show was the finals of the Rey de Reyes tournament and a match between the Stable "Los Hell Brothers" and the "Outsider" group known as La Legión Extranjera. As in previous years there were no qualifying matches for the Rey de Reyes; instead, six people competed in an elimination match to determine the 2007 Rey de Reyes. The participants in the finals were a mixture of AAA mainstays, a Total Nonstop Action Wrestling representative (Rhino) and two wrestlers making special appearances. Included in the show was the finals of a tournament to crown the first AAA World Tag Team Champions. During the tournament four teams all tied for first which meant that the four teams would face off in an elimination match to determine the new champions. The teams were the Black Family, The Mexican Powers, Los Guapos and Real Fuerza Aérea. The undercard included a storyline between Billy Boy and his real life father-in-law Gran Apache, which culminated in a Lucha de Apuestas match where both wrestlers put their hair on the line.

Rey de Reyes (2008) 2008 Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event

The Rey de Reyes 2008 was the 12th annual Rey de Reyes professional wrestling tournament and show, produced by the Mexican wrestling promotion Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA). The event took place on March 18, 2007 in the Plaza de Toros Lorenzo Garza arena in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. The main focus of the 2008 Rey de Reyes show was the twelfth annual Rey de Reyes tournament and a match between the top technico Cibernético and the top rudo El Mesias for the AAA Mega Championship which El Mesias held going into the event. The undercard included four qualifying matches for the Rey de Reyes leading to the traditional four man elimination match that led to the crowning of that year's Rey de Reyes. The undercard also saw the continuing feud between Konnan’s La Legión Extranjera and their altercations with wrestlers defending AAA. For this event La Legión Extranjera brought in two American wrestlers, Sabu and Scott Steiner, to strengthen their side. The other undercard storyline was that of Los Psycho Circus competing with The Black Family.

Los Psycho Circus was a Lucha libre, or professional wrestling, trio who worked for the Mexico City based Lucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA) as a Technico team. The trio consists of three enmascarado, or masked, wrestlers known under the ring names Psycho Clown, Monster Clown and Murder Clown. They are former two-time AAA World Trios Champions and were also the last holders of the Mexican National Atómicos Championship with Chessman. Los Psycho Circus is most known for an exaggerated undefeated streak since their debut in 2007, they are announced at having won over 600 matches. The streak came to an end in December 2010.

Rey de Reyes (2012) 2012 Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event

Rey de Reyes was a professional wrestling event produced by the AAA promotion, which took place on March 18, 2012, at Auditorio Benito Juárez in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. The event was the 16th event produced under the Rey de Reyes name and also the 16th time that the Rey de Reyes tournament was held.

Fabián Núñez Napoles is a Mexican luchador, better known by the ring name Rey Escorpión. He is currently working for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), where he portrays a rudo or bad guy character. He is former the AAA World Tag Team Champions with El Texano Jr. He worked for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) from 2009 to 2016 and prior to that worked for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) in 2008, where he was known as Escorpión Negro. Núñez ring name is Spanish for "Scorpion King".

Rey de Reyes (2017) 2017 Lucha Libre AAA World Wide event

The 2017 Rey de Reyes was a professional wrestling event produced by the Lucha Libre AAA World Wide, or simply AAA, promotion. The 2017 version was the 21st year in a row that AAA has held a Rey de Reyes show and tournament. Previous Rey de Reyes tournaments consisted of several rounds, but for 2017 AAA held a nine-man Royal Rumble-style elimination match, which was won by Argenis.
