Ambalavao District is a district [1] in central Madagascar. It covers an area of 4,798.47 km2, and had a population estimated at 209,417 in 2013. [2] It is part of Haute Matsiatra Region. Its capital is Ambalavao.

Ambalavao is situated at the National road 7 Fianarantsoa-Ihosy-Tuléar at 160 km from Ihosy and 56 km from Fianarantsoa. [3] An airport serves the town.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Anja Community Reserve</span>

The Anja Community Reserve is a woodland area and freshwater lake, situated at the base a large cliff. Much of the reserve is dominated by fallen rocks and boulders and there are two small caves providing habitat for bats and owls. This reserve has much sheltered habitat in the pocket of forest that has established between the vast boulders.

Route nationale 25 is a primary highway in Madagascar of 161 km, running from Mananjary, Fianarantsoa to RN7. It crosses the regions of Vatovavy and Haute Matsiatra. It is only partly paved and often in bad condition.
