Amber Chia (simplified Chinese :谢丽萍; traditional Chinese :謝麗萍; Jyutping :Ze6 Lai6 Ping4; Pe̍h-ōe-jī :Chiā Lê-phêng, pinyin: Xiè Lìpíng; born 14 December 1981) is a Malaysian model, actress, TV host and brand ambassador. She was born in Teluk Intan, Malaysia but grew up in the town of Tawau in Sabah, East Malaysia. Chia started her own company Amber Creations in mid-2009 and a modelling school Amber Chia Academy in August 2010.[ citation needed ]

Early life

Chia was born in Teluk Intan, Perak. Due to her parents' hardship, she was taken care by foster parents at eight years old. When she turned 12, Chia moved back to Tawau, Sabah. She stopped schooling at 15, to work full-time in order to help her family. In an interview with iMoney.my, Chia worked three jobs; selling fish at the market in the morning, salesgirl at a small mall in the day and a cashier at a pub at night. [1]

Career

Winner of the Guess Watches Timeless Beauty International Model Search 2004 title, Chia became the first Asian model to campaign for Guess Watches worldwide. [2] Victoria Beckham selected her to present the Victoria Beckham Autumn/Winter 2009 Ready to Wear Collection during the New York Fashion Week. [2]

Personal life

She married her business partner manager Adrian Wong in March 2010. [3] Wong is the founder and director of CMG Absolute [4] and has two children from a previous marriage. [5] The couple has a son named Ashton Wong; born September 2010. [6] Ashton Wong is a child model. [7] [8]

Tawau, formerly known as Tawao, is the capital of the Tawau District in Sabah, Malaysia. It is the third-largest city in Sabah, after Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan. It is located on the Semporna Peninsula in the southeast coast of the state in the administrative centre of Tawau Division, which is bordered by the Sulu Sea to the east, the Celebes Sea to the south at Cowie Bay and shares a border with North Kalimantan, Indonesia. Teluk Intan is a town in Hilir Perak District, Perak, Malaysia. It is the district capital, the largest town in the district and fourth largest town in the state of Perak with an estimated population of around 172,505, more than half of Hilir Perak district's total population (232,900).

Hilir Perak District is a district in Perak, Malaysia. The district is governed by Teluk Intan Municipal Council which is based in the town of Teluk Intan. The District council was known as Hilir Perak District Council until 4 April 2004, when it was upgraded to Municipality status. Teluk Intan town is the district's principal urban center while smaller towns include Langkap town and Chenderong Balai town.

The West Coast Expressway (E32), abbreviated WCE, is an interstate controlled-access highway running along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The 233-kilometre (145-mile) expressway is currently under construction, with several sections open for public use. Once completed, the expressway will run between Changkat Jering, Perak and Banting, Selangor, following federal routes 5 and 60 for most of its route. The expressway will operate in three sections, with sections of federal route 5 completing the missing connections; these sections will be upgraded to limited-access roads. The expressway is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2025, except for a 10 km stretch from Section 7B which is expected to be completed by June 2026.

The seat was vacated after the death of the incumbent MP, Seah Leong Peng from bladder cancer in Kuala Lumpur on 1 May 2014. Seah was a lawmaker from the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition. In the 2013 general election, he defeated Barisan Nasional(BN) candidate and Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong and an independent candidate by 7,313 votes.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bagan Datuk District</span> District of Malaysia in Perak

The Bagan Datuk District is the most southwest district in Perak, Malaysia. It covers an area of 951 square kilometres, and had a population about of 70,300. The district is bordered by Perak River which separates Manjung and Central Perak in the north, Bernam River which separates Sabak Bernam in the state of Selangor in the south, Muallim and Hilir Perak in the northeast. The capital of this district is Bagan Datuk town. Vivian Wong Shir Yee is a Malaysian politician, financial adviser, teacher, activist and volunteer who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sandakan since May 2019. She is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. She is also the daughter of former State Minister of Health and People's Wellbeing of Sabah, former Sandakan MP and former State Chairman of DAP of Sabah Stephen Wong Tien Fatt.
