Ankeny High School is a public high school located in Ankeny, Iowa, United States. It is part of the Ankeny Community School District, and serves grades 10 through 12.
AHS opened in 1913 and graduated six seniors in the spring of 1914. [2] In August 2011, the school moved to a new location, which was built at a construction cost of about $54 million. [3] Construction began on the new location in 2008 after planning concluded. [4] Ankeny Centennial High School opened in 2013, drawing students from what was the northern portion of AHS' attendance zone. [5] A new $25 million addition was announced in 2020. [6]
AHS athletic teams are classified as 4A by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and compete in the Central Iowa Metro League. [7] In 2005, the girls' basketball team rose as high as No. 2 in USA Today's Super 25 national rankings. [8]

Ankeny has three competitive show choirs, the mixed-gender "Visual Adrenaline" and "Perpetual Motion" as well as the all-female "Intensity". [10] With the opening of Ankeny Centennial in 2013, some inside the show choir program wanted to end the history of the three groups and start fresh with new directors and new names. The Ankeny Community School District cited a 2009 precedent in a 2011 move to disallow any potential attempted name changes. [11] Visual Adrenaline has won national-level competitions before. [12]

Abraham Lincoln High School, usually referred to simply as Lincoln High School or Lincoln, is a public secondary school located on Des Moines Southside Des Moines, Iowa, United States. It is one of five secondary schools under the district of the Des Moines Independent Community School District, the largest high school in the Des Moines public school district and the state of Iowa. With a population of 2,409+ students operating out of two buildings on the Des Moines Southside was named after the 16th United States president Abraham Lincoln. The school sports team is named after one of President Lincoln's nicknames, the "Rail Splitter". Their mascot is typically a senior at the school or a recent alumni dressed up as Abraham Lincoln. The school is known as the Pride of the South Side.

Paul Robert Rhoads is an American football coach. He is currently the outside linebackers coach at Boston College. A long-time major conference assistant coach and head coach, he is best-known for his seven-year tenure as head coach at Iowa State.

Connie Sue Yori is the former head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers women's basketball team representing the University of Nebraska in NCAA Division I competition. She formerly coached Loras College from 1990 to 1992 and Creighton from 1992 to 2002. In 2009–10, Yori was named the Naismith College Coach of the Year, AP College Basketball Coach of the Year and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year after guiding Nebraska to a 32–2 record and the school's first-ever trip to the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship Sweet 16.

Playing as a member of the Big 12 Conference, the team played its home games at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa. They were led by seventh-year head coach Paul Rhoads. They finished the season 3–9, 2–7 in Big 12 play to finish in ninth place.
