Chittagong Medical College (also known as CMC) is a public medical college located in Chittagong, Bangladesh. It was established in 1957. It is the second oldest medical college in Bangladesh.

Chittagong Medical College was established in 1957. [1] Chittagong Medical College Hospital was started in 1959, adjacent to the college, with 120 beds. [2] Construction of the present purpose-built six-storied CMCH was completed in 1969.

The college graduated approximately 150-225 students each year from 2010 through 2015. [3] As of 2019, it had an annual enrollment capacity of 220 seats. [4] Sahena Akhter has been principal of the college since January 2021. [5]

Nurul Islam was a Bangladeshi physician and educator. In 1987, he was selected as the National Professor of Bangladesh. He founded and served as the vice-chancellor of University of Science and Technology Chittagong. He was a Founding Fellow of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences since 1973. He served as the personal physician of Bangladeshi President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Chowdhury is a title of honour, usually hereditary, originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is an adaption from Sanskrit. During the Mughal rule, it was a title awarded to eminent people, while during British rule, the term was associated with zamindars and social leaders. The common female equivalent was Chowdhurani.

Pran Gopal Datta is a Bangladeshi physician, university administrator and politician. In September 2021, he won the candidacy of membership of Jatiya Sangsad representing the Comilla-7 constituency in a bi-election unopposed. The membership of the constituency became vacant after Ali Ashraf died in office in July 2021.

Bangla Academy Fellowship is an honor organization that recognizes notable people from the Bangla Academy. This fellowship is awarded annually in recognition of special contributions to their respective fields. So far, those who have received Bangla Academy Fellowship are:

Pranab Kumar Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi pediatrician, academic and writer. He authored many books on child healthcare as well as children's fictions in Bengali. He also co-authored a text book on paediatrics. He was awarded 'Swadhinata Smarak Sommanona Padak' by Chittagong City Corporation in 2017 for his contribution in child healthcare. He regularly writes articles on children's care in popular newspapers. His six-part book on children's healthcare in Bengali was lauded by Shamsuzzaman Khan and Anisuzzaman. He is the former professor and head of the Department of Paediatrics, Chittagong Medical College, Chittagong, Bangladesh. He regularly sees patients at Doctors Lab, Chittagong.
