Tremaine Aldon Neverson, known professionally as Trey Songz, is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He was discovered by record producer Troy Taylor in 2003, and later signed to his Songbook Entertainment label in a joint venture with Atlantic Records. His debut studio album, I Gotta Make It (2005) entered the Billboard 200 at number 20, while his second album, Trey Day (2007) reached number 11. The latter was supported by the single "Can't Help but Wait", which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. His third album, Ready (2009) reached number three on the Billboard 200, spawned the Billboard Hot 100-top ten single "Say Aah", and earned a nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Hip Hop Is Dead is the eighth studio album by American rapper Nas, released December 19, 2006, on Def Jam Recordings. His first album for the label, it was co-financed by Nas's previous label, Columbia Records, which once distributed for Def Jam. The album's title was inspired by Nas's view of the music industry and the state of hip hop music at the time. The album features appearances from Nas's then-wife Kelis, Def Jam label-mates Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Chrisette Michele, as well as will.i.am, Snoop Dogg, and The Game, among others.

Aiko embarked on her musical career in 2002, as a backing vocalist and music video performer for the R&B group B2K. She was signed by their record label, The Ultimate Group that same year and was marketed as the "cousin" of B2K member Lil' Fizz to cultivate her own following, although they are not related. Her debut album, slated for a 2003 release through the label with Epic Records, was shelved due to Aiko instead further pursuing her education.

The album serves as a continuation of Wale's Seinfeld-themed mixtape series. Recording sessions took place between 2013 and 2015. The production on the album was handled by multiple producers including Frank Dukes, Jake One, Sonny Digital, DJ Dahi, Pro Reese and DJ Khalil among others. The latter received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and served as the lead single for her debut extended play ...And See That's the Thing (2015), which was released by Columbia Records. Both songs, along with her guest appearance on Kid Ink's 2015 single "Be Real", peaked within the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100. Her debut studio album, Sell Sole II (2020) was met with positive critical reception, although it failed to chart.

Born and raised in Portmore, Jamaica, Tina migrated to The Bronx, New York City at the age of 12. Currently signed to Epic Records, she released two mixtapes in 2017, Can't Believe It's Just a Girl and Trap Vs. Reggae. The latter album peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. Her 2017 single, "Walking Trophy," peaked at number 22 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
