Christian Holmes (born September 14, 1997) is an American football cornerback for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Missouri and Oklahoma State and was selected by the Commanders in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Holmes played cornerback and wide receiver for McNair High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He committed to play college football at the University of Missouri.
As a true freshman for the Missouri Tigers, he played minimally in 10 games and recorded only a single tackle. He redshirted his second season due to a shoulder injury in a pre-season scrimmage. [1] He played in 13 games as a redshirt sophomore and started eight, recording 12 pass break-ups and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. [2] Holmes would transfer to Oklahoma State in February 2020. [3]
In his first season with Oklahoma State, Holmes would play in all 11 games and started the final 2. He had 25 total tackles, and 6 broken-up passes. He would start 13 games in his final collegiate season, including the 2021 Big 12 Championship Game, and was named to the All-Big 12 Conference second-team by the Associated Press while also receiving All-Big 12 Academic honors. [4] Holmes finished the season with 39 tackles, an interception, and seven pass-breakups.

Holmes was selected by the Washington Commanders in the seventh round (240th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. [7] He signed his four-year rookie contract on May 6, 2022. [8]
In Week 6 against the Chicago Bears, Holmes made a key special teams play in the fourth quarter when he recovered a muffed punt by Chicago returner Velus Jones Jr. on the Bears six-yard line. This would lead to the Commanders' only touchdown in their 12-7 victory over the Bears. [9]
Derrick Lee Strait is a former American college and professional football player who was a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons during the early 2000s. He played college football for the University of Oklahoma, and was recognized as a unanimous All-American. The New York Jets chose him in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft, and he also played professionally for the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers of the NFL.
William Gay is an American football coach and former cornerback who is the assistant defensive backs coach for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Louisville before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Gay was a member of the Super Bowl XLIII-winning team the following season and played for the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants before becoming a coach in 2019.
Tracy O'Neil Porter is a former American football cornerback. He was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Porter is best known for being a crucial player during the 2009 New Orleans Saints season, in which he intercepted Brett Favre in the NFC Championship Game and then won Super Bowl XLIV, sealing the game by famously intercepting Peyton Manning and returning it for a touchdown.
