Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library

The Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library in the Cleveland Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is located at 3310 Connecticut Avenue NW. [1] A library building opened on the site in 1953 [2] and was replaced in 2018 by a larger facility that was built at a cost of $19.7 million. [3] The new library's design garnered praise and plaudits; DCist described it as "strikingly stylish" [4] and it won the 2019 Urban Catalyst award from the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects. [5]

Its main commercial corridor lies along Connecticut Avenue NW, where the eponymous Cleveland Park station of the Washington Metro's Red Line can be found; another commercial corridor lies along Wisconsin Avenue. The neighborhood is known for its many late 19th century homes and the historic Art Deco Uptown Theater. It is also home to the William L. Slayton House and the Park and Shop, built in 1930 and one of the earliest strip malls.

A small library kiosk opened in the area in 1976 and a somewhat larger facility opened in 1984, which was eventually replaced in 2009 by a new $878,000 library building.

The Palisades Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library in the Palisades neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is located at 4901 V Street NW. A small sub-branch library opened in the neighborhood in 1928 and the current building opened in 1964, with a $8.2 million renovation completed in 2018.

Southwest Neighborhood Library

The Southwest Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library in the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is located at 900 Wesley Place SW. The library first opened in 1941 inside Thomas Jefferson Memorial Junior High School, a Georgian Revival-style building designed by architect Nathan C. Wyeth. A new library building opened in 1965 and was scheduled to close in mid-2019, with a new $18 million building to be constructed in its place. During construction, interim library service will be provided at 425 M Street SW.

West End Neighborhood Library

The West End Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library in the West End neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is located at 2301 L Street NW. The library opened in 1967 at 1101 24th Street NW and was the city's first public library branch to offer air conditioning. A new library opened in 2017 as part of a mixed-use development project designed by architect Enrique Norton.
