Adams Morgan is a neighborhood in Northwest Washington, D.C., centered at the intersection of 18th Street NW and Columbia Road, about 1.5 miles (2.54 km) north of the White House. Known for its broad mix of cultures and activities, Adams Morgan contains together both residential and entertainment areas, and has a vibrant nightlife with numerous bars and restaurants, particularly along 18th Street NW. Columbia Road also holds a busy stretch of shops and businesses. As a distinct, named area, Adams Morgan came into being in the late 1950s, when it drew together several smaller and older neighborhoods that were first developed in the latter 19th and early 20th centuries. It is today composed primarily of well-made rowhouses; and classically-styled mid-rise apartment buildings, many of which are now co-ops and condos; along with various commercial structures.
Cleveland Park is a residential neighborhood in the Northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. It is located at 38°56′11″N77°3′58″W and bounded approximately by Rock Creek Park to the east, Wisconsin and Idaho Avenues to the west, Klingle and Woodley Roads to the south, and Rodman and Tilden Streets to the north. Its main commercial corridor lies along Connecticut Avenue NW, where the eponymous Cleveland Park station of the Washington Metro's Red Line can be found; another commercial corridor lies along Wisconsin Avenue. The neighborhood is known for its many late 19th century homes and the historic Art Deco Uptown Theater. It is also home to the William L. Slayton House and the Park and Shop, built in 1930 and one of the earliest strip malls.

The Southwest Waterfront is a mostly residential neighborhood in Southwest Washington, D.C. The Southwest quadrant is the smallest of Washington's four quadrants, and the Southwest Waterfront is one of only two residential neighborhoods in the quadrant; the other is Bellevue, which, being east of the Anacostia River, is frequently, if mistakenly, regarded as being in Southeast. For that reason many residents of Southwest Waterfront will simply refer to themselves as living in "Southwest."

The Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library in the Tenleytown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is located at 4450 Wisconsin Avenue NW. A public library branch first opened in the area in 1926, and a library at the current site opened in 1960. A redesigned library branch was built at a cost of $18 million and opened in 2011. The Washington Post described the new library building, which featured a green roof and other sustainable-design features, as "one of the best things for D.C. in decades", though it experienced years of problems with a leaky roof.
The Parklands-Turner Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library in the Congress Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is located at 1547 Alabama Avenue SE. A small library kiosk opened in the area in 1976 and a somewhat larger facility opened in 1984, which was eventually replaced in 2009 by a new $878,000 library building.
The Palisades Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library in the Palisades neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is located at 4901 V Street NW. A small sub-branch library opened in the neighborhood in 1928 and the current building opened in 1964, with a $8.2 million renovation completed in 2018.
The Southwest Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library in the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is located at 900 Wesley Place SW. The library first opened in 1941 inside Thomas Jefferson Memorial Junior High School, a Georgian Revival-style building designed by architect Nathan C. Wyeth. A new library building opened in 1965 and was scheduled to close in mid-2019, with a new $18 million building to be constructed in its place. During construction, interim library service will be provided at 425 M Street SW.
The West End Neighborhood Library is a branch of the District of Columbia Public Library in the West End neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is located at 2301 L Street NW. The library opened in 1967 at 1101 24th Street NW and was the city's first public library branch to offer air conditioning. A new library opened in 2017 as part of a mixed-use development project designed by architect Enrique Norton.
