Congress of the State of Tlaxcala

The Congress of the State of Tlaxcala (Spanish : Congreso del Estado de Tlaxcala) is the legislative branch of the government of the State of Tlaxcala. The Congress is the governmental deliberative body of Tlaxcala, which is equal to, and independent of, the executive.

The Congress is unicameral and consists of 25 deputies. [1] [2] 15 deputies are elected on a first-past-the-post basis, one for each district in which the entity is divided, while 10 are elected through a system of proportional representation. [3] Deputies are elected to serve for a three-year term. [1]

Same-sex marriage is legally recognized throughout Mexico, though access is uneven at the state and municipal level. Only civil marriages are recognized by Mexican law, and all proceedings fall under state legislation. Since August 2010, same-sex marriages performed anywhere within Mexico are recognized by the 31 states without exception, and fundamental spousal rights also apply to same-sex couples across the country. In June 2015, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation ruled that state bans on same-sex marriage violate the federal constitution. The court's ruling is considered a "jurisprudential thesis" and did not invalidate any state laws, but required judges and courts throughout Mexico to approve all applications for same-sex marriages.

Same-sex marriage in Tlaxcala has been legal since 25 December 2020. Legislation to legalise same-sex marriage passed the Congress of Tlaxcala on 8 December 2020 by a vote of 16–3, and came into force on 25 December. Tlaxcala has also recognised civil unions, which grant several of the rights and benefits of marriage, for both opposite-sex and same-sex couples since 12 January 2017.

14th Congress of Deputies Congress of Deputies from November 2019 election

The 14th Congress of Deputies is the current meeting of the Congress of Deputies, the lower house of the Spanish Cortes Generales, with the membership determined by the results of the general election held on 10 November 2019. The congress met for the first time on 3 December 2019. According to the Constitution of Spain the maximum legislative term of the congress is 4 years from the preceding election.
