The Idaho Supreme Court is the state supreme court of Idaho and is composed of the chief justice and four associate justices.

The Idaho Court of Appeals is the intermediate-level appellate court for the state of Idaho. The court was created by statute by the Idaho Legislature and began operations in 1982.

The United States District Court for the District of Idaho is the Federal district court whose jurisdiction comprises the state of Idaho. Court is held in Boise, Coeur d'Alene, and Pocatello. Cases from the District of Idaho are appealed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Idaho Legislature


The Idaho Legislature consists of the upper Idaho Senate and the lower Idaho House of Representatives. Idaho is divided into 35 legislative districts, which each elect one senator and two representatives. There are no term limits for either chamber.

The University of Idaho College of Law is the law school of the University of Idaho, with its main location in Moscow and a second campus in the state capital of Boise. As of the entering class of 2017–18, students may take all three years of instruction at either location. The UI College of Law has been a member of the Association of American Law Schools since 1914 and has been accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) since 1925. In the 2018 rankings, US News & World Report ranked Idaho Law at # 109/203 A.B.A. accredited law schools in its annual law school rankings. The College of Law was established in 1909, and its graduates tend to dominate the legal market in the state.

Curtis "Curt" McKenzie was born in Corvallis, Oregon. He was a Republican member of the Idaho Senate from 2012–2016 representing the 13th District and previously District 12 of the Idaho Senate from 2002–2012. McKenzie and his ex-wife, Renee, have two children.

Libertarian Party of Idaho

The Libertarian Party of Idaho is the Idaho affiliate of the Libertarian Party. Although it currently has no representation in the Idaho Legislature, along with the Constitution Party of Idaho it is one of two minor political parties in Idaho which has ballot access. The current state chair is Rob Oates.

Janice McGeachin American congresswoman in Idaho

Janice K. McGeachin is an American politician serving as the 43rd lieutenant governor of Idaho, since 2019. She is the first female lieutenant governor of Idaho.

Same-sex marriage has been legally recognized in the U.S state of Idaho since October 15, 2014.
