DHA City Karachi is a housing estate being built in Gadap Town, which is located in the outskirts of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. [2] [ failed verification ] The project spans over 11,640 acres. [3] [4]

Located 56 kilometers from Karachi, the community is planned to be self-dependent for water and electricity. According to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) master plan unveiled in 2011, construction costs are forecasted at 1 billion dollars and include two theme parks, one hospital, one university, 20 colleges and 40 schools. [5]

DHA City Karachi is located at a distance of 35 km[ citation needed ] from Jinnah International Airport, the largest airport of Pakistan. [6]

DHA City is accessible from the city of Karachi as well as Hyderabad by M-9 Motorway. The project is situated at a distance of 56 km from the city core area of Karachi. [6]

To connect the DHA City Karachi with the DHA, the project developers planned the Malir Expressway. Sindh government started construction on Malir Expressway in 2022. The Expressway once completed in 2024 will cut down hour-long journey into just a 20 minute drive. [7]

As per the DCK Transportation Plan there will be a myriad of road networks, major intersections, collector roads, service roads, roundabouts, one way regimes and the concept of using maximum public transport. [6]

Public transportation [6] consists of two street car trams, articulated modern buses, pedestrian areas and parking lots. [6]

Bus Rapid Transit

The Karachi Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT) has been extended to DHA City Karachi. [6]

Karachi is located on the coastline of Sindh province in southern Pakistan, along a natural harbour on the Arabian Sea. The city has a very diverse population with very affluent areas such as Clifton and large areas of people living in middle class environments. Karachi is ranked as a Beta world city in the GaWC index, and is widely recognized as the prime financial and transport hub of Pakistan.

Malir Expressway is a 39 km under construction expressway starting from KPT Interchange, passes through Qayyumabad and conclude at the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway near Kathore, along the Malir River in Karachi, Pakistan. One of the major infrastructure developments in Karachi city which is unviable for the provincial government and detrimental to the city's climate. It was announced that half of it will be opened on 14th August 2023 which has been indefinitely delayed since the Asian Development Bank has withdrawn the funding for the construction ADB decides against financing Karachi’s Malir Expressway; as of right now there is illegal excavation happening on the Malir River bed and the fields of Malir; it is unlikely that Expressway will be completed given the litigation and damage to the only surviving river in Karachi.

Peoples Bus Service, formally known as the Sindh Intra-District Peoples Bus Service Project is a public bus service by the Government of Sindh operating in Karachi, Hyderabad and Larkana.
