Malang is an inland city in the Indonesian province of East Java. It has a history dating back to the age of Singhasari Kingdom. It is the second most populous city in the province, with a population of 820,043 at the 2010 Census and 843,810 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 846,126. The Malang Metropolitan area was home to 3,663,691 inhabitants in 2010, spread across two cities and 22 districts. Malang is the third largest city by economy in East Java, after Surabaya and Kediri, with an estimated 2016 GDP at Rp. 44.30 trillion.

Nidji is an Indonesian rock band based in Jakarta. Formed in February 2002, Nidji's name comes from the Japanese word niji (虹), meaning "rainbow". The band's music can be classified under the alternative pop genre, and the band has cited Coldplay and The Killers as major influences. The band currently consists of Yusuf Ubay (vocals/saxophone), Andro Regantoro (bass), Randy Danistha (keyboards/synthesizers), Ramadhista Akbar and Andi Ariel Harsya (guitars), and Adri Prakarsa (drums).

Catatan Si Boy is a 1987 Indonesian action film drama directed by Nasri Cheppy and starring Didi Petet. The film, a success, spawned five sequels, as well as remake in 2016. The film was inspired by a popular radio drama show of the same name broadcast by Prambors Rasisonia from June 1985 to the late 80s. As with the radio show, Catatan Si Boy chronicled the life of the main character "Boy", the son of a very rich Indonesian family who owns a conglomerate of companies in many industries.
Ahmad Heryawan is an Indonesian politician who served as the Governor of West Java Province between 2008 and 2018. He was inaugurated in April 2008, after winning the West Java gubernatorial election in March 2008. Ahmad Heryawan, together with his running mate Yusuf Macan Effendie, was the governor candidate from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and National Mandate Party (PAN) coalition, running the gubernatorial election against Agum Gumelar – Nu'man Abdul Hakim from Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and United Development Party (PPP) coalition and Danny Setiawan – Iwan Ridwan Sulandjana from Golkar and Democratic Party (PD) coalition.
The Pontianak Kadriyah Sultanate was an Islamic Malay state that existed on the western coast of the island of Borneo from the late 18th century until its disestablishment in 1950. It was founded in 1771 by Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman Ibni Alhabib Husein bin Ahmad Alkadrie, allegedly a descendant of Sayidina Husain, in the area of the mouth of the triple junction of the small Kapuas River and the porcupine river which included a small area area ceded by the Sultan of Banten to the Dutch VOC. He had two political marriages in Kalimantan, the first to the princess of the Mempawah Kingdom, Utin Chandramidi, and the second in 1768 to Ratu Syahranum of the Banjar Sultanate, earning him the title Pangeran Nur Alam.

Aminah Tjendrakasih was an Indonesian actress best known for her appearance as Lela in the television series Si Doel Anak Sekolahan. Beginning her career in her teenage years, Cendrakasih had her first starring role in 1955's Ibu dan Putri. She soared to popularity after taking a role in Serampang 12 along with Nun Zairina in 1956. Cendrakasih acted in more than a hundred feature films; in 2012 and 2013 she received Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Bandung Film Festival and the Indonesian Movie Awards.
Abdullah Azwar Anas is an Indonesian politician who is serving as Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform since September 2022. Before becoming a minister, he was the regent of Banyuwangi, East Java, between 2010 and 2015 and 2016 to 2021. Prior to becoming a regent, he had served as both an elected member of the People's Representative Council and an appointment to the People's Consultative Assembly, for one term each.

Dede Koswara, also known as the "Tree Man", was an Indonesian carpenter with epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV), a rare disease that causes the human papillomavirus (HPV) to grow uncontrollably, leading to the development of warts resembling tree bark. He received criticism from the people around him for having an unknown disease for most of his life. It was not until his later years that he received notoriety and was given multiple treatments for his condition.
Indra Mohammad Thohir is an Indonesian former football coach who is best known for guiding Persib Bandung to two consecutive national titles, the 1993–94 Perserikatan and 1994–95 Liga Indonesia Premier Division. He is considered one of Persib's greatest coaches of all time. Aside from Persib, he has also coached Persikabo Bogor and the Indonesia national under-16 football team.
