Destination Kohler is the hospitality and real estate arm of the Kohler Company, and the tourism promotion agency for the Village of Kohler, Wisconsin.

The American Club

Destination Kohler owns and operates a resort in Kohler called The American Club. The American Club is a Forbes Five Star Resort and the only AAA 5-Diamond resort hotel in the entire Midwest.

Inn on Woodlake

Destination Kohler also operates Inn On Woodlake, a 121-room hotel also located in the Village of Kohler west of The Shops at Woodlake. [1]

Sandhill Cabin

Named for a pair of Sandhill cranes that return each year to the property, the Sandhill Cabin is located in the Town of Mosel west of the Kohler-owned Whistling Straits golf course. [2] [3]

Lodge Kohler

Destination Kohler also operates Lodge Kohler, a AAA 4-Diamond 144-room hotel located in Green Bay in the Titletown area near Lambeau field. The hotel boasts a restaurant, a cafe, and a Kohler Waters Spa. [4]

The Kohler Company operates three golf courses in Wisconsin and Scotland.

Whistling Straits

The Whistling Straits golf course is located in the Town of Mosel north of Sheboygan, Wisconsin and is associated with The American Club and hosted the PGA Championship in 2004, 2010 and 2015, as well as the 2007 U.S. Senior Open and the 2021 Ryder Cup.

Blackwolf Run

Blackwolf Run, located in the Village of Kohler, features two courses and has hosted the 1998 and 2012 U.S. Women's Open.

Old Course Hotel

The Old Course Hotel is a five-star hotel in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland.

Kitchens of Kohler

Under the Destination Kohler umbrella, the Kohler Company owns and operates a number of restaurants, including the Immigrant Restaurant at the American Club, the Wisconsin Room, the Greenhouse, The Horse & Plow, Cucina. The company also operates restaurants at its two golf courses in Sheboygan County and at its private club Riverbend.

Kohler's hospitality group owns and operates Riverbend, a private membership club along the Sheboygan River on the west side of the Village of Kohler.

River Wildlife

River Wildlife is a 500-acre wilderness preserve along the Sheboygan River near the Blackwolf Run golf course and Riverbend. [5] It includes a private rustic cabin and a recreational retreat. [6]

Kohler Stables

The Kohler Company owns and operates Kohler Stables in Kohler. Herbert V. Kohler, Jr. was the owner of Noble Flaire from 1984 until Flaire's death in 2006. [7]

Proposed projects

Tented Forest

In September 2011, the Kohler Company announced plans to building a luxury "tented forest" that would have included 15 permanent, canvas-covered structures on 247 acres of company property just north of Kohler-Andrae State Park. [8] Most of the structures would house guests, but there would also be a spa tent and a guest-only restaurant and bar. In January 2012, Sheboygan County officials voted to grant a conditional use permit for the development [9] but has since scrapped those plans. [10]

Events

Destination Kohler organizes a number of annual events including; Kohler Festival of Beer, [11] Kohler Food & Wine Experience, In Celebration of Chocolate and Kohler Winterfest.

Kohler Landscape

Kohler Landscape is part of Destination Kohler and is responsible for landscaping in the Village of Kohler and the Kohler Company properties.

Village Realty & Development

The Kohler Company also owns and operates Village Realty & Development, which guides the orderly development of more than 4.5 square miles of land within the Village of Kohler. [12] Village Realty & Development is a full-service brokerage company that specializes in the sale of single-family homes, duplexes and condominiums throughout Sheboygan County. It also owns River Trails, a gated wooded area boarding the Black River in the Town of Wilson south of Sheboygan featuring log homes. [13]

Destination St Andrews

Outside the United States, the Kohler Company also owns the Old Course Hotel at St. Andrews in Scotland. The 5 Red Star golf resort is situated on the famed "Road Hole" fairway of the 17th green as well as the Hamilton Grand.

Kohler Co. American manufacturing company in Wisconsin

Kohler Co., founded in 1873 by John Michael Kohler, is an American manufacturing company based in Kohler, Wisconsin. Kohler is best known for its plumbing products, but the company also manufactures furniture, cabinetry, tile, engines, and generators. Destination Kohler also owns various hospitality establishments in the United States and Scotland. In February 2017, Kohler Co. acquired UK-based Clarke Energy from the management team and ECI Partners, a multinational specialist in the engineering, construction, installation and maintenance of engine-based power plants and is an authorized distributor of GE's reciprocating engines in 19 countries worldwide.

Whistling Straits Golf course in Kohler, Wisconsin

Whistling Straits is one of two 36-hole links-style golf courses associated with Destination Kohler, a luxury golf resort owned and operated by the Kohler Company in Kohler, Wisconsin. The other course is Blackwolf Run, located in the Village of Kohler. The Whistling Straits complex is located north of Sheboygan, in the unincorporated community of Haven in the Town of Mosel in Sheboygan County. Whistling Straits is separated into two courses, the Straits Course and the Irish Course.

Walter J. Kohler Sr.

Walter Jodok Kohler Sr., was a member of the Kohler family of Wisconsin, and was an American businessman and politician. He was an innovative and highly successful Wisconsin industrialist. The Kohler Company was founded by his father, John Michael Kohler. Walter Kohler served as the company's president from 1905 to 1937. Walter Kohler was elected the 26th Governor of Wisconsin as a Republican, serving one term from 1929 to 1931. A moderate, pro-business Republican who admired Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover, Kohler sparred with the Left and Right in his party before and during the Great Depression. His son, Walter J. Kohler Jr., also served as governor, from 1951 to 1957.

It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2021–2025, in which it is categorized as a regional general aviation facility. Sheboygan's National Weather Service observation station is based at the airport.

Wisconsin Highway 28 Highway in Wisconsin

State Trunk Highway 28 is a 59.77-mile (96.19 km) state highway in Dodge, Washington, and Sheboygan counties in southeastern portion of the US state of Wisconsin that runs east–west between Horicon and Sheboygan. The route is generally two-lane road beyond portions of the road within the city of Sheboygan and the half-mile portion of the highway near Waldo which runs concurrently with Wisconsin Highway 57.

Wilderness Territory

Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort is a large water resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. It is one of the largest indoor waterpark complexes in the world with a combined size of 240,000 square feet (22,000 m2). It is part of a chain of two resorts, the newer and smaller one being Wilderness at the Smokies in Tennessee. The chain also includes four small outdoor waterparks.

Blackwolf Run

Blackwolf Run is a golf course complex in Kohler, Wisconsin. It is one of two golf destinations associated with The American Club, owned by a subsidiary of the Kohler Company. The other is the Whistling Straits complex in nearby Haven.

The American Club is a luxury spa and resort located in Kohler, Wisconsin. It is owned and operated by the Kohler Company. It has received various awards, including the Top 100 Golf Resorts by Conde Nast Traveler magazine, and is the Midwest's only AAA Five Diamond Resort Hotel. It is now part of Destination Kohler. The American Club is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Haven, Wisconsin Unincorporated community in Wisconsin, United States

Haven is an unincorporated community in the town of Mosel in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. The community is located east of I-43 between Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Cleveland, Wisconsin.

The Kohler strikes at the Kohler Company, just west of Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1934 and 1954 are landmarks in the history of both business and labor in the United States. Labor leaders have often cited the warfare at the giant plumbing supply company in their contention that workers need unions. Industrial leaders have pointed to the strikes as examples of union belligerence and indifference toward the true welfare of their employees.

The Bull at Pinehurst Farms, often called simply just The Bull, is a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course located in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. It is the only golf course in the state of Wisconsin designed by Jack Nicklaus. As of 2013, The Bull was ranked the 77th best public course in the United States, only behind the 62nd place Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run, the 39th place Irish Course at Whistling Straits, the 14th place River Course at Blackwolf Run, the 10th place Erin Hills, and the 2nd place Straits Course at Whistling Straits in the state of Wisconsin. All of these courses except for Erin Hills are located within 6 miles of downtown Sheboygan, and all but Erin Hills and The Bull are associated with The American Club Resort in Kohler. The golf course has 18 holes and was built on the former Pinehurst dairy farm.

Julilly House Kohler was a member of the Kohler family of Wisconsin and was a children's author who lived in Kohler, Wisconsin. She was active in social work and community projects, and was well known for advocacy for the preservation of burial mounds constructed by the North American Mound Builders at Sheboygan Indian Mound Park.

2015 Kohler strike

The 2015 Kohler Strike is the fourth strike in the 142-year-old history of the Kohler Company in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Wisconsins 27th Assembly district

The 27th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in eastern Wisconsin, the district comprises northeast Sheboygan County and southeast Manitowoc County. It includes part of northern Sheboygan, as well as the cities of Plymouth and Kiel, and the villages of Cleveland, Elkhart Lake, and Kohler. It also contains Lakeland University, the Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run golf courses, the Road America motorsport course, and the Sheboygan County Memorial Airport. The district is represented by Republican Tyler Vorpagel, since January 2015.
