Dixon Mills is a residential complex in Jersey City, New Jersey that uses the buildings of the former location of the Joseph Dixon Crucible Company, which was in use between 1847 and 1895. [1] There is a small museum with artifacts from the building and its history in the lobby of the complex. [2]
Joseph Dixon moved his crucible factory, which was originally located in Salem, Massachusetts, to what is now the Van Vorst Park neighborhood of Historic Downtown, Jersey City, New Jersey in 1847. [3] [4] Over the years the company produced crucibles, pencils, crayons, stove polish and lubricants at this site. [2] In the mid-1980s the complex was developed into residences, preserving the structures as they were, including bridges between buildings. There is a small museum with artifacts from the building and its history in the lobby of the complex. [2]
The Dixon Ticonderoga Company is an office and art supplies maker from the United States, with headquarters in Heathrow, Florida. The company offers a number of brands, with one of the most well-known being Ticonderoga: the yellow No. 2 pencil known for its distinctive green and yellow ferrule. Thomas Edison National Historical Park preserves Thomas Edison's laboratory and residence, Glenmont, in West Orange, New Jersey, United States. The Colgate Clock is an octagonal clock facing the Hudson River near Exchange Place in Jersey City, New Jersey. The clock has a diameter of 50 feet (15 m). It was located atop of what was once the headquarters of the Colgate-Palmolive, until 1985, when was moved to a ground-level location 1,300 feet (400 m) south of that building, which was demolished and replaced with the Goldman Sachs Tower.
Roosevelt Stadium was an American outdoor sports facility located in Union City, New Jersey. The stadium was built in 1936 and demolished in 2005 so Union City High School could be built on the site. After the school was built, its athletic complex was also named Roosevelt Stadium; the current field is located atop the school.

17 State Street is a 42-story office building along State Street and Battery Park in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan in New York City. Completed in 1988, it was designed by Roy Gee for Emery Roth and Sons for developers William Kaufman Organization and JMB Realty. The building is shaped like a quarter round, with a curved glass facade facing New York Harbor. At ground level, large aluminum columns surround a lobby and elevator hall. Next to the lobby was a public exhibition space called "New York Unearthed", which was operated by the South Street Seaport Museum from 1990 to 2005. The building has a total floor area of 525,000 sq ft (48,800 m2); each story was designed for small tenants.
The Phoenix Iron Works, located in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, was a manufacturer of iron and related products during the 19th century and early 20th century. Phoenix Iron Company was a major producer of cannon for the Union Army during the American Civil War. The company also produced the Phoenix column, an advance in construction material. The Jersey City Museum was a municipal art museum in Jersey City, New Jersey. The establishment opened in 1901 and was housed in the main branch of the Jersey City Public Library. It relocated to a new building in 2001, but due to financial difficulties and discord with the city, closed to the public in 2010. In 2018, the museum collection was donated to the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University.

Theodore de Lemos, son of Hermann and Maria Grothe De Lemos of Holstein, was an architect. He graduated with honors from the Berlin Royal Academy of Buildings, and was famous for his designs in three countries, Germany, Mexico, and the United States. In 1881, de Lemos left Germany and settled in New York, where he married Margaretta Becker and had a daughter, Marie Katherine. He died in April 1909 and is interred at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York City.
