Elaine Rawlinson (January 26, 1911 - October 19, 1989) [1] was an American artist known for being the first female stamp designer in the United States.
Rawlinson graduated from the National Academy of Design School in 1934. She spend time studying at the Beaux-Arts Institute and the Pennsylvania Fines Arts Country School. [2]
In 1933 Rawlinson won a competition to design a stamp that honored past presidents. This was the first national competition for stamp design hosted by the United States Post Office Department. The stamp design was for a presidential series to feature George Washington, in what would become the Presidential Series of 1938, or the 'Prexies'. [3] Rawlinson submitted her design based on sculptor Jean Antoine Houdon's bust of Washington, [4] and she won the top prize for which she received $500. [5] She was also the first U.S. stamp designer who did not work for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. [6] The stamp went on sale in 1938. [4]
Rawlinson was also responsible for designing the Philippines' 2-centavos stamp, featuring Jose Rizal y Mercado, in 1940. [7] [2]

The Presidential Issue, nicknamed the Prexies by collectors, is the series of definitive postage stamps issued in the United States in 1938, featuring all 29 U.S. presidents who were in office between 1789 and 1928, from George Washington to Calvin Coolidge. The presidents appear as small profile busts printed in solid-color designs through 50¢, and then as black on white images surrounded by colored lettering and ornamentation for $1, $2, and $5 values. Additional stamps in fractional-cent denominations offer busts of Benjamin Franklin and Martha Washington, as well as an engraving of the White House. With its total of 32 stamps, this was the largest definitive series yet issued by the U. S. Post Office.

Moore College of Art & Design is a private art school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1848 by Sarah Worthington Peter as the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, and was renamed the Moore College of Art & Design in 1989. Although the school's undergraduate programs were historically only open to women, Moore opened admission to transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming students in 2020. Its other educational programs, including graduate programs and youth programs, are co-educational.
Unown is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. Created by Ken Sugimori, Unown first appeared in the video games Pokémon Gold and Silver and most of its subsequent sequels. It has also appeared in various merchandise, spin-off titles, and animated and printed adaptations of the franchise. Unown are hieroglyph-like, thin, black ancient Pokémon usually found on walls. There are twenty-eight forms of Unown: one for each of the twenty-six letters in the Latin alphabet, a question mark, and an exclamation mark. Unown is a Psychic-type Pokémon, and is not able to evolve.

Elaine Lustig Cohen was an American graphic designer, artist and archivist. She is best known for her work as a graphic designer during the 1950s and 60s, having created over 150 designs for book covers and museum catalogs. Her work has played a significant role in the evolution of American modernist graphic design, integrating European avant-garde with experimentation to create a distinct visual vocabulary. Cohen later continued her career as a fine artist working in a variety of media. In 2011, she was named an AIGA Medalist for her achievements in graphic design.
