The Islamabad Capital Territory is the only federal territory of Pakistan and contains Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Located on the northern edge of the Pothohar Plateau and at the foot of the Margalla Hills, The ICT shares borders with the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the west and with the province of Punjab in the remaining directions. The M-2 Motorway or the Lahore–Islamabad Motorway is a north–south motorway in Pakistan, connecting Rawalpindi/Islamabad to Lahore, and is the first motorway to have been built in South Asia. The M-2 is 375 km long and located entirely in Punjab. It continues on to eventually become the M-1 motorway, which terminates in Peshawar. The M-2 crosses the junction of M-4 at Pindi Bhattian and M-3 at Dera Saithan Wala. The motorway is also a part of the Asian Highway AH1. The motorway was constructed during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's rule and cost over Rs. 60 billion and was opened in November 1997. One of the most expensive motorways in Asia, it also has one of the highest pillared-bridges in Asia at the Khewra Salt Range section.
Mulhal Mughlan is a village and union council, an administrative subdivision, of Chakwal in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. It is part of Chakwal located on Sohawa Chakwal Road which leads to Talagang and Mianwali.

Swaik Lake is a lake located in tehsil Kallar Kahar, Chakwal District of Punjab the province of Pakistan. It can be accessed through the M2 motorway linking Lahore and Islamabad. The lake is located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from the Kallar Kahar and 48 kilometres (30 mi) southwest of city of Chakwal along the Motorway (M-2). A waterfall is also located at the lake. It is a popular tourist attraction and offers opportunities for swimming and diving.

On 29 January 2023, a bus carrying at least 43 people plunged into a ravine and caught fire in Bela Tehsil, Lasbela District, Balochistan, Pakistan. The crash initially killed 40 people and injured three, one of whom died shortly after. The two remaining survivors were in a "serious" condition.
On 17 June 2023, a passenger bus traveling from Lahore to Rawalpindi overturned on M-2 Motorway near Kallar Kahar, which is about 133 km away from Islamabad. Preliminary reports from the National Highways and Motorway Police suggest that the accident was caused by brake failure.
