Goodman was a right-handed batsman and occasional off-break bowler who represented Tasmania from 1978 until 1980,before playing for South Australia from 1980 to 1983 and returning to play for Tasmania until 1992–93,playing his last representative match for Tasmania at age 39. He commenced his cricket career with the St George Cricket Club in Sydney at the age of 16,winning the Junior Cricketer of the Year Award for four consecutive seasons. He also played in 23 Grand Finals winning 18 of the 23 with various cricket Clubs (Sth. Hurstville RSL CC,St George DCC,Petersham Marrickville DCC,Burnie CC,Devonport CC,Launceston CC,Newtown CC,Sunderland CC (UK),Brighouse CC (UK),Darlington CC (UK),Uddingston CC (Scot),Yorkshire 2nd XI,Leicestershire 2nd XI) and spanning a career from 1966 to 1992–93.
He was known for scoring a century in his first match for Tasmania against Queensland at the Gabba in 1978 and a successful team member of the first Tasmanian Cricket Team to win a National Title in the Gillette Cup. However,after a few inconsistent performances with both the bat and the ball and a serious head injury in 1985,he was overlooked for Test selection. He had senior administration and teaching roles with the Australian Sports Commission;New South Wales,Tasmanian and South Australian Education systems;was CEO of the Tasmanian and Australian Capital Territory Cricket Associations where he was instrumental in developing with the Australian Football League the new Manuka Oval and new Sir Donald Bradman Stand. He also played a major role as National Director of the powerful valuation and lobby group,The Australian Property Institute(2001–2002)and as National Project Manager for MAXIhomes Australia (2003–2005).

Joseph Darling was an Australian cricketer who played 34 Test matches as a specialist batsman between 1894 and 1905. As captain, he led Australia in a total of 21 Tests, winning seven and losing four. In Test cricket, he scored 1,657 runs at an average of 28.56 per innings, including three centuries. Darling toured England four times with the Australian team—in 1896, 1899, 1902 and 1905; the last three tours as captain. He was captain of the Australian cricket team in England in 1902, widely recognised as one of the best teams in Australian cricket history.
Michael James Di Venuto is an Australian cricket coach and former first-class cricketer who represented both Australia and Italy. The bulk of his first-class cricket career was spent playing for Tasmanian Tigers. After retiring from representative cricket in Australia, he continued playing for Durham County Cricket Club till July 2012, when he announced retirement from County Cricket. He has also previously played cricket in England for Derbyshire and Sussex. A left hand opening batsman, his form for Tasmania throughout the mid-1990s earned him a call up for the Australian national cricket team in the One Day International arena, although after nine games he was dropped. Like some of his contemporary Tasmanian teammates such as Jamie Cox, Dene Hills, and Shaun Young, Di Venuto can be considered unlucky to have not had a more successful international career, as he was playing at a time when the Australian national cricket team was highly dominant, and difficult to earn selection for. After retiring from Durham, he was appointed Australia's full-time batting coach by head coach Mickey Arthur, and was then head coach of Surrey from 2016 until 2020.
Intercolonial cricket matches were the first-class cricket matches played between the various colonies of Australia prior to federation in 1901. After federation, they became known as Interstate matches. By the 1880s regular intercolonials were being played, generally with intense rivalry. Laurence John Nash was a Test cricketer and Australian rules footballer. An inductee into the Australian Football Hall of Fame, Nash was a member of South Melbourne's 1933 premiership team, captained South Melbourne in 1937 and was the team's leading goal kicker in 1937 and 1945. In cricket, Nash was a fast bowler and hard hitting lower order batsman who played two Test matches for Australia, taking 10 wickets at 12.80 runs per wicket, and scoring 30 runs at a batting average of 15.

Sefton Park Cricket Club in south Liverpool, England was formed as Sefton Cricket Club in 1860. As well as being used for Sefton's senior, women's and junior teams' home fixtures, the club hosts Lancashire age group and junior sides, Liverpool City junior representative games, University of Liverpool cricket and Last Man Stands.
Jake Richard Doran is an Australian cricketer who plays for Tasmania, Hobart Hurricanes and Australia under-19s. He previously played for New South Wales, and is also the youngest player to be signed to a Big Bash League contract. Doran is the younger brother of cricketer Luke Doran and attended The Hills Sports High School.
On 11 and 12 February 1851, teams from Van Diemen's Land and Port Phillip District played the first cricket match between two Australian colonies, recognised in later years as the inaugural first-class cricket match in Australia. It took place at the Launceston Racecourse, known now as the NTCA Ground, in Tasmania. The match was incorporated into celebrations marking the separation of the Port Phillip District from New South Wales in 1851 as the colony of Victoria.
