Chana School is a Registered Historic Place in Ogle County, Illinois, in the county seat of Oregon, Illinois. One of six Oregon sites listed on the Register, the school is an oddly shaped, two-room schoolhouse which has been moved from its original location. Chana School joined the Register in 2005 as an education museum.

The Charter Oak Schoolhouse is a historic octagonal school building in Schuline, Illinois, located on the Evansville/Schuline Road between Schuline and Walsh. Built in 1873, it served as a public primary school until 1953. The school was one of 53 octagonal schoolhouses built in the United States, of which only three survive. The building is now used as a museum by the Randolph County Historical Society and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The McAuley School District No. 27 is a schoolhouse in Winfield Township, DuPage County, Illinois, 1.25 miles (2.01 km) west from West Chicago, Illinois. By the time the schoolhouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, District 27 was the last fully functioning one-room school district in Illinois. The final schoolhouse was built in 1913 on a school lot used since the 1850s; it closed in 1991 and the school district annexed into West Chicago Elementary School District 33 in 1992.
The Eggleston School is former school and current private residential structure located at the 10539 Nolan Road in rural Nester Township in southeastern Roscommon County, Michigan. It was designated as a Michigan Historic Site on February 29, 1996 and soon after added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 4, 1996. The school is particularly notable for the finely crafted fieldstone exterior, constructed of blocks with various shapes, sizes, and hues. It is the only property in Roscommon County listed on the National Register and one of only four county properties designated as a Michigan Historic Site — along with Gerrish Township Information Site, Pioneer House, and Turney House.

The Pleasant Grove School is a historic school building located in Logan Township, Peoria County, Illinois, near the community of Eden. The one-room schoolhouse was built in 1856 to educate the children of Pleasant Grove, the name for the surrounding community at the time. The school was built on the same property as the community's church, which has since been demolished, and its cemetery. Local stonemason Joel Lobaugh built the school from locally quarried, rough coursed limestone; his design was utilitarian, with limestone window sills and lintels being the only decorative elements. The school served students until 1945, when all of Logan Township's schools consolidated into a single school in Eden.
Walnut Grove School is a historic one-room schoolhouse located southwest of Osage in rural Mitchell County, Iowa, United States. It was in operation from 1857 to 1946, and it educated anywhere from five to thirty-three student at a time. The frame structure built on a limestone foundation was constructed in 1873 on the same site as the building it replaced. A bell tower with a cast iron bell is located on the gable roof above the main entrance. Its property is on the edge of a timber along Rock Creek. In 1911 there were 88 one-room school houses in Mitchell County. This is the only one that is unaltered and in its original location. The area was settled by Norwegian pioneers in 1853. They named their small town Meroa, which has been reduced to his old schoolhouse, a Lutheran church, a cemetery, and a few houses. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
McGee School, also known as Coffin's Grove Township, District #1, is a one-room schoolhouse located west of Manchester, Iowa, United States. Built in 1868 in a folk-vernacular style, it is a rare example of a brick one-room schoolhouse in Iowa, and the only on left in Delaware County. Also rare is the tall Romanesque arched entryway, which led to a cloakroom on either side. The building is also significant as the only known school associated with Sarah Gillespie Huftalen, a rural school advocate and educator, who taught here from 1883 to 1884. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
The Lone Tree School is a historic one-room schoolhouse located at 19292 250 North Avenue in rural Bureau County, Illinois. The school was built in 1876 to serve the community of Lone Tree and surrounding Wheatland Township. It was one of three schools in the township, and served school district #3; the district was established in 1848, but the location of its first school is unknown. It continued to serve the area until 1942, when it closed due to school consolidations in the county; the school outlasted the community it served, as Lone Tree was otherwise abandoned by the 1920s. Though Bureau County once had 236 one-room schoolhouses, Lone Tree School is one of the few which is well-preserved and still at its original location.
Mill Rock School is a historic one-room schoolhouse located south of Baldwin, Iowa, United States. It is one of over 217 limestone structures in Jackson County from the mid-19th century, of which 12 are school buildings. This school building was built in 1869 by Abner Hunt and P.A. Downer. The stone blocks that were used in the construction of this rectangular structure vary somewhat in shape and size, and they were laid in courses. The window sills and lintels are dressed stone. There is a brick chimney on the west elevation, and two entrance doors on the east elevation. Having two entrance doors is unusual for rural Jackson County schools. A name and date stone is located in the east gable.
Point School was a one-room schoolhouse located at 6976 N. Vincennes Trail near Grant Park, Illinois. The school was built in 1854 to serve Yellowhead Township District #8, one of nine school districts in the county. As was typical of Midwestern one-room schoolhouses, the school was a white rectangular frame building; it featured a gable front and three windows along each of the sides. The school operated until 1948, when it was closed due to school consolidation in the area. While Kankakee County once had 151 one-room schoolhouses, an Illinois Historic Preservation Agency survey in 1992 determined that the Point School was one of only three one-room schoolhouses that still stood at its original site and had not been significantly altered.
The North Grove School is a historic one-room schoolhouse located at 26475 Brickville Road northwest of Sycamore, Illinois. Swedish immigrants built the school in 1878; while it was originally a Lutheran school, it became part of the DeKalb County public school system two years later. The school served area students in the first through eighth grades until 1952, when it closed during a wave of school consolidations. After its closure, the school building was briefly used by the local Community Club. It is the only one-room schoolhouse in DeKalb County that is at its original site and has not been significantly altered.
