The Governor of East Kalimantan is the executive head of the Indonesian province of East Kalimantan. The office was created in 1956, shortly before the formation of East Kalimantan as a new province on January 1, 1957.

Provinces of Indonesia are the 38 administrative divisions of Indonesia and the highest tier of the local government. Provinces are further divided into regencies and cities, which are in turn subdivided into districts (kecamatan).
The Jakarta Special Capital Region is administratively equal to a province with special status as the capital of Indonesia. Instead of a mayor, the executive head of Jakarta is a governor. The governor of Jakarta is an elected politician who, along with the vice governor and 106 members of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), is accountable for the strategic government of the city of Jakarta.
Awang Faroek Ishak is an Indonesian politician who was the Governor of East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Awang Faroek assumed office in December 2008. Originally his tenure ended in December 2018, but he resigned on 4 September 2018 because he wants to run in 2019 Legislative Election competing for a seat in the People's Representative Council from East Kalimantan and then got elected.
Lukas Enembe is an Indonesian politician who served as the 13th Governor of Papua Province from April 2013 to January 2023. He had previously served as Regent of Puncak Jaya Regency between 2007 and 2012, and Vice Regent of the same regency from 2001 until 2006.
Djarot Saiful Hidayat is an Indonesian politician who is currently a member of the People's Representative Council. He was the governor of Jakarta, in office between 15 June and 15 October 2017 after being acting governor since 9 May. He replaced his predecessor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama when the latter was found guilty of blasphemy against Islam. He was appointed by Basuki as Deputy Governor in 2014 to fill the gap left by the election of Joko Widodo as president.
Sinyo Harry Sarundajang was an Indonesian politician. He served as governor of North Sulawesi for all but one month from 2005 to 2015. He was also a former Governor of North Maluku in 2002 and Maluku in 2002–2003. In February 2018, he was appointed by the President Joko Widodo as the ambassador to the Philippines, with concurrent accreditation to the Marshall Islands and Palau.
2018 East Kalimantan Governor Cup or 2018 East Borneo Governor Cup was the second edition of East Kalimantan Governor Cup football championship, which was held by the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) as pre-season tournament during 2018 Liga 1 season break. The tournament started on 23 February 2018 and ended on 4 March 2018. The broadcasting rights were granted solely to MNCTV.
A gubernatorial election was held across the province of North Kalimantan on 8 December 2015, to elect the province's governor for the 2016-2021 five-year term. There were two pairs contesting the election, and Irianto Lambrie who had previously taken a temporary post as the province's governor defeated former Tarakan mayor Jusuf Serang Kasim.

The 2018 East Kalimantan gubernatorial election took place on 27 June 2018 as part of the simultaneous local elections. It was held to elect the governor of East Kalimantan along with their deputy, whilst members of the provincial council will be re-elected in 2019.
Hadi Mulyadi is an Indonesian politician who is the vice governor of East Kalimantan. Previously, he had served as a member of both the provincial council and the People's Representative Council.
Wiluyo Puspoyudo was an Indonesian military figure and politician who became the deputy speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly from 1960 until 1966, and as the acting Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly in 1966.
Sodjuangon Situmorang is an Indonesian bureaucrat who worked in the Department of Internal Affairs and briefly in the office of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs as a deputy. Sodjuangan also held office as the acting governor of Central Kalimantan in 2005 and Papua in 2006.
Petrus Kanisius Yuvenalis Yurnalis Ngayoh was an Indonesian bureaucrat and politician. He was the Vice Governor of East Kalimantan from 2003 until 2006 and the Governor of East Kalimantan from 2006 until 2008 and was the first Dayak as well as Roman Catholic governor of East Kalimantan.
PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Kalimantan Timur dan Kalimantan Utara, doing business as Bankaltimtara, is an Indonesian regional development bank serving East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan. It was previously known as Bank Kaltim or East Kalimantan Bank until 2017 when the company was renamed after new North Kalimantan province was created. It is also one of the biggest compared to other province's regional development banks in Indonesia.
Soedarmo was an Indonesian military officer and bureaucrat who became the Director General of Politics and General Government. Due to his office in the Ministry of Home Affairs, he held acting governorships in Aceh and Papua.
Nusantara, officially known as the Capital City of Nusantara, is the future capital of Indonesia, scheduled to be inaugurated on 17 August 2024, coinciding with Indonesian Independence Day. Nusantara will replace Jakarta as the national capital, a position the latter city has held since the country's independence in 1945.
Usman Ja'far was an Indonesian politician and businessman who served as the Governor of West Kalimantan between 2003 and 2008, and as a member of the People's Representative Council from 2009 until his death in 2015.
Norbaiti Isran Noor was an Indonesian politician who served as a member of the People's Representative Council from 2014 until 2015. She was the wife of the incumbent governor of East Kalimantan, Isran Noor.
