The GranArena del Cibao Dr. Oscar Gobaira, formerly known as the Palacio de los Deportes, is a multi-purpose arena in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, built in 1978. The arena has a capacity of 8,768 seats, consisting of 7,000 regular seats, 668 comfortable armchairs and 1,100 luxury seats that are fully reclinable. The arena has a modern acoustic system, which has 16 speakers and 10 monitors. The arena was remodeled for the Dominican Republic National Basketball Team in accordance with the requirements of FIBA. The cost of the renovations amounted to about RD$528,000,000. The arena Host, Metros de Santiago, national basketball team.

The arena is also used for other purposes such as the Miss Dominican Republic pageant in 2011.[ needs update ] As a Concert Venue, Aventura was the first act to perform at the venue since it remodelation in 2008. It was the first massive concert in the city in the last 10 years. [1] Other artist such as Ricardo Arjona, Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel, Don Omar, Julio Iglesias, Calle 13 and Gilberto Santa Rosa had performed in the venue.

It currently hosts local sporting events and concerts and held the basketball games during the 2003 Pan American Games. It is known as "La Media Naranja" for its characteristic orange roof. The arena is also used in the Miss Dominican Republic Pageant. It also hosted games from the 2010 World Youth Women's Handball Championship.

Yuderqui Maridalia Contreras, also known as Yudelkis Contreras, is a Dominican Republican weightlifter. She went to the 2008 Summer Olympics where she was 5th. After the Games, she was accused of failing a doping control, but the case ended with her name cleared. She was one of the two athletes that represented her home country in weightlifting at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She failed her three attempts in the snatch stage ending with no mark.

José Guillermo Cortines is a Dominican actor and singer who is involved in films, telenovelas, musical theatre and television. He lives in Dominican Republic and is best known for his role as Mauricio Montiel in Telemundo's "El Rostro de Analía" and for his role as Osvaldo Guerra in Más Sabe el Diablo. He was also the host of the Miss Dominican Republic 2002 and Miss Dominican Republic 2004 beauty pageants. He played a role in the movie La Fiesta del Chivo.

Bethania Almánzar Sosa is a female beach volleyball and volleyball player from the Dominican Republic. She twice won the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit 2007, partnering Margarita Suero and the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games silver medal, playing with Julibeth Payano.

Ana Josefa Villanueva Fabián is a karateka from the Dominican Republic who won the gold medal at the 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games.

The Maluma World Tour was the first headlining concert tour by Colombian reggaeton singer Maluma, in support of his second studio album, Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy (2015). The Barrio Fino World Tour was a concert tour by reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee to promote his third studio album, Barrio Fino (2004). This was his first large tour and his first arena tour in the United States becoming the first reggaeton act to do so. The tour visited Latin America and United States and consisted of three legs. In December 2005, Yankee released Barrio Fino en Directo with featured videos and songs recorded live on this tour. Also, contained a DVD with footage of the tour in Colombia, Puerto Rico, Ecuador and Dominican Republic.

Entre Mar y Palmera Tour is the title of the world tour of Dominican superstar Juan Luis Guerra and 4:40 to promote his live album of the same title, his EP Prive and to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of his blockbuster album Bachata Rosa. The tour kicked off February 12, 2022, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and is expected to end on February 10, 2024 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The La Última Mision World Tour is the farewell concert tour by reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel to support their final studio album La Última Misión (2022). The tour commenced on May 27, 2022 in Medellin, Colombia and is set to end on December 31, 2022 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The tour consists of two legs, the first in Latin America and the second leg includes 28 shows in United States and Canada and it is set to conclude with a record-breaking 14 consecutive shows at José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico.

La Travesia World Tour is the world tour by the Dominican superstar Juan Luis Guerra Tour promote his 10th studio album La Llave de Mi Corazón. It was his longest tour at the time and consisted in six legs, 54 shows and visited United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia, where his made his debut in Japan. Also, it was his biggest international tour in more than a decade, marking his first time in many years that he performed in countries such as Ecuador, Paraguay and Costa Rica since the Bachata Rosa World Tour. The tour kick off on July 12, 2008, and ended on December 5, 2009, in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The Pa'l Mundo Tour is the first world tour by the reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel to promote their fifth studio album Pa'l Mundo. It consisted of two legs in Latin America and United States. This tour included their first presentation at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico and it marked the first time that a reggateon act sold out two consecutive nights at the venue. Also, their presentation in Radio City Music Hall in New York and Altos de Chavon in Dominican Republic, marked the first time that a reggaeton act performed at those venues. Both concerts were reported sold out.

The Los Extraterrestres World Tour is the third world by the reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel to support their fifth studio album Wisin vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres. This tour included their first official arena tour in The United States and their first presentation as headliners in Mexico, Paraguay and Argentina. During the tour the album was re-released and for this reason some concerts were renamed under the title Los Extraterestres: Otra Dimension.
