Here Media Inc. is an LGBT-oriented media company. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the company produces and distributes niche content focused on LGBT consumers. [2] [3]
Here Media was founded in 2009 by Paul Colichman and Stephen P. Jarchow when Here Networks LLC and Regent Entertainment Media Inc. formed a business combination with PlanetOut Inc. [4]
The company was initially established by a different name in December 2000. At that time, Online Partners agreed to acquire PlanetOut Corp., creating PlanetOut Partners Inc. [5] In 2002, privately held Here TV was launched and made available in 50 million homes. [6] On October 14, 2004, PlanetOut joined NASDAQ under the ticker symbol (LGBT). [7] In November 2005, PlanetOut acquired LPI Media, publisher of The Advocate , OUT , HIV Plus, and Alyson Books. [8] In 2008, Regent Entertainment Media Inc. Out is an American LGBTQ news, fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle magazine, with the highest circulation of any LGBTQ monthly publication in the United States. It presents itself in an editorial manner similar to Details, Esquire, and GQ. Out was owned by Robert Hardman of Boston, its original investor, until 2000, when he sold it to LPI Media, which was later acquired by PlanetOut Inc. In 2008, PlanetOut Inc. sold LPI Media to Regent Entertainment Media, Inc., a division of Here Media, which also owns Here TV. In 2017, Here Media sold its magazine operations to a group led by Oreva Capital, who renamed the parent company Pride Media. On June 9th, 2022 Pride Media was acquired by Equal Entertainment LLC known as equalpride putting the famous magazine back under queer ownership.
Judith Ellen Light is an American actress. She made her professional stage debut in 1970, before making her Broadway debut in the 1975 revival of A Doll's House. Her breakthrough role was in the ABC daytime soap opera One Life to Live from 1977 to 1983, where she played the role of Karen Wolek; for this role, she won two consecutive Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Light starred as Angela Bower in the long-running ABC sitcom Who's the Boss? from 1984 to 1992.
