Ivan Barma (Иван Барма), together with Postnik Yakovlev, was probably one of the architects and builders of Saint Basil's Cathedral on Red Square [1] in Moscow (built between 1555 and 1560).

Postnik Yakovlev is most famous as one of the architects and builders of Saint Basil's Cathedral on Red Square in Moscow. Originally from Pskov, it is thought that he was nicknamed "Barma" (Барма), although it might be that his full name was, in fact, Ivan Yakovlevich Barma; ; Barma might also be Yakovlev's assistant.

It was built from 1555–1561 on orders from Ivan the Terrible and commemorates the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan. It was the city's tallest building until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600. The Saint Basil's Cathedral is not to be confused with the Moscow Kremlin.
