The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) is a professional independent baseball league based in the United States. It is an official MLB Partner League based in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States. The Atlantic League's corporate headquarters is located at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster,Pennsylvania.
The Bridgeport Bluefish were an American minor league baseball team based in Bridgeport,Connecticut. The team was a member of the Liberty Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball,which was not affiliated with Major League Baseball. They played their home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard from 1998 to 2017.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are a professional ice hockey team based in Pittsburgh. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference,and have played their home games at PPG Paints Arena,originally known as Consol Energy Center,since 2010. The team previously played at the Civic Arena,also known as "the Igloo". The Penguins are currently affiliated with two minor league teams –the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL) and the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.

The Ballpark at Harbor Yard was a 5,500-seat independent-league ballpark in downtown Bridgeport,Connecticut that opened on May 21,1998. The stadium was located next to the Webster Bank Arena,now known as the Total Mortgage Arena. It was named "Harbor Yard" as an allusion to Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore,Maryland.

Pittsburgh was first known as the "City of Champions" when the Pittsburgh Pirates,Pittsburgh Panthers football team,and Pittsburgh Steelers won multiple championships in the 1970s. Today,the city has three major professional sports franchises,the Pirates,Steelers,and Penguins;while the University of Pittsburgh Panthers compete in a Division I Power Five conference,the highest level of collegiate athletics in the United States,in both football and basketball. Local universities Duquesne and Robert Morris also field Division I teams in men's and women's basketball and Division I FCS teams in football. Robert Morris also fields Division I men's and women's ice hockey teams.
The Colorado Rockies were an professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL) that played in Denver from 1976 to 1982. They were founded as the Kansas City Scouts,an expansion team that began play in the NHL in the 1974–75 season. The Scouts moved from Kansas City,Missouri,to Denver for the 1976–77 season. After six seasons in Denver,the franchise moved to East Rutherford,New Jersey,for the 1982–83 season and was renamed the New Jersey Devils. Denver went without an NHL team until the Quebec Nordiques relocated to become the Colorado Avalanche following the 1994–95 season. The Rockies name itself would be applied to Denver's Major League Baseball expansion team that began play in 1993.
Howard Lapsley Baldwin is an American entrepreneur and film producer. He is the CEO of Baldwin Entertainment,which has produced films such as the Academy Award-nominated Ray. Baldwin founded the New England Whalers ice hockey franchise in the World Hockey Association (WHA) and retained ownership when the team became the Hartford Whalers and joined the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also owned part of the Minnesota North Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins NHL franchises. He won the Stanley Cup in 1992 with Pittsburgh. The WHA's coach of the year award was originally named the Howard Baldwin Trophy in his honor.
The 1967–68 Pittsburgh Penguins season was their first in the NHL. Pittsburgh was one of six cities awarded an expansion team during the 1967 NHL expansion.

John Thomas Riley was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and executive. He is best remembered for being the first general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League. He served the Penguins from their founding through the spring of 1970,and then in a second term from January 1972 to January 1974. In 1975,he became Commissioner of the Southern Hockey League. From 1979 to 1983 he served as President of the International Hockey League.
John Carl 'Jack' Button was a professional hockey executive with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League. The Jack Button Award,given to the top prospect for the Washington Capitals,was created in his honor. He died of leukemia in 1996.
The 1967 National Hockey League (NHL) expansion added six new franchises for the 1967–68 season,doubling the size of the league to 12 teams. It was the largest expansion undertaken at one time by an established major sports league and the first change in the composition of the NHL since 1942,ending the era of the Original Six.
Donald Holcombe Parsons was an American lawyer,banker,and businessman. He was owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League from March 1968 until April 1971.
Peter Block was a co-founder and former-owner of the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins. He was a part of the team's ownership for just one season,selling in his share in 1968. Block rejoined the ownership group in 1971,though,and kept his stake until the team went bankrupt in 1975. He relocated to California in the mid-1980s to start a business venture and died on December 13,2015 at his home in Santa Monica from cancer.
