The Academy Award for Best Animated Feature is given each year for animated films. An animated feature is defined by the Academy as a film with a running time of more than 40 minutes in which characters' performances are created using a frame-by-frame technique, a significant number of the major characters are animated, and animation figures in no less than 75 percent of the running time. Martin David William Childs MBE, is a British production designer. He won the 1998 Academy Award for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration for Shakespeare in Love, and was nominated at the 74th Academy Awards for his work on the film Quills. He has also been nominated three times for the Art Directors Guild Award for Excellence in Production Design, and three times for a BAFTA Award for Best Production Design.
Carl Francis Biddiscombe was a Canadian-American set decorator. He was nominated for two Academy Awards in the category Best Art Direction for the films Gaily, Gaily and Tora! Tora! Tora!. Biddiscombe was buried in Pacific View Memorial Park, alongside his wife.
