Julius Gibrilla Wobay (born 19 May 1984) is a Sierra Leonean international footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder.

Football career

East End Lions

Julius Gibrilla Wobay was born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone to parents from the Mende ethnic group.[ citation needed ] He attended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School in Freetown.[ citation needed ] He began his professional football career in his native Sierra Leone with East End Lions in the Sierra Leone National Premier League.

Cyprus

After the 2003 season, Wobay left the Sierra Leone National Premier League and signed with Cyprus side Onisilos Sotira where he played 12 matches and scored three goals. Then Wobay signed with Nea Salamis Famagusta FC, a club in Cyprus top division.

Universitatea Craiova

In January 2007, Wobay moved to Romanian Liga I side Universitatea Craiova on a four and a half year contract from Cypriot club Nea Salamina FC for $450k. [1]

Aris Limassol

Three years after his movement from Salamina to Craiova, Wobay comes back (on a loan until the end of the season) to Cyprus but this time for Aris Limassol. On 20/1 he signed his contract with Cypriot side.[ citation needed ] The deal doesn't include a summer buying option for Aris Limassol.[ citation needed ]

Khazar Lankaran

After returning to Universitatea Craiova for the first half of the 2010–11 season, Wobay went on to sign a two-year contract with Khazar Lankaran in the Azerbaijan Premier League during the winter break. [2] Wobay went on to make 26 appearances for Khazar, scoring 6 goals. [3]

Al-Masry

On 31 January 2012, Wobay signed for Al-Masry of Egypt on a contract till the end of 2011–12 season, and was in the stands watching his new club as the Port Said Stadium riot unfolded. [4]

Neftchi Baku

During the summer of 2012 Wobay signed a one-year contract with Neftchi Baku. [5] Wobay made his club debut in their 3–0 UEFA Champions League second qualifying round 1st leg match against Zestafoni, scoring the second goal. [6] Wobay followed this up with a goal in the second leg [7] and one in their 6–2 aggregate defeat to Ironi Kiryat Shmona in the third round, [8] which saw them knocked into the UEFA Europa League play off round where Wobay also scored [9] to help Neftchi reach the group stage of the UEFA Europa League for the first time. During the 2012–13 season Wobay played in 31 league games, scoring eight goals, and five cup games to help Neftchi win a 2013 League and Cup double.

Wobay has signed a new contract with Neftchi in June 2013, [10] before moving on loan to Al Shabab of the UAE Arabian Gulf League on a year-long loan in July 2013. [11] Wobay was deregistered by Al Shabab during the 2014 January transfer window. [12]

Olimpija

On 29 January 2016 Wobay signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with Slovenian club Olimpija Ljubljana. [13]

International

On 14 February 2001 Wobay made his debut for the Sierra Leone national team in a 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Liberia in a match played in the Liberian capital of Monrovia. He retired from international football in December 2018. [14]

The Azerbaijan Cup 2010–11 is the 19th season of the annual cup competition in Azerbaijan. It started on 26 October 2010 with four games of the Premiliary Round and will end in May 2011 with the final held at Tofik Bakhramov Stadium in Baku. FK Baku are the defending champions. Twenty-two teams are scheduled to compete in this year's competition. The winners will receive a berth in the second qualifying round of the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League.

They finished second in the 2011–12 Azerbaijan Premier League, qualifying for the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League again. In the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League they entered, and were knocked out, at the Second Qualifying Round by Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel. They also took part in the 2011–12 Azerbaijan Cup getting knocked out at the Quarterfinal stage by Inter Baku.

The Neftchi Baku 2012–13 season is Neftchi Baku's 21st Azerbaijan Premier League season, and their third season under manager Boyukagha Hajiyev. Neftchi participated in the Second and Third UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds, defeating FC Zestafoni of Georgia in the Second round before losing to Ironi Kiryat Shmona of Israel in the Third round. This meant that they dropped down into the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League Play Off Round, where they defeated APOEL of Cyprus 4–2 on aggregate to qualify for the group stages of the Europa League for the first time. In the group stages they were drawn against FK Partizan of Serbia, Rubin Kazan of Russia and Internazionale of Italy. They also won the Azerbaijan Premier League for the 3rd time in a row, and completed a domestic double by defeating Khazar Lankaran on penalties in the Azerbaijan Cup final.

The Khazar Lankaran 2010–11 season is Khazar Lankaran's sixth Azerbaijan Premier League season. It was Khazar's first season under Mircea Rednic. Khazar finished the season in 2nd place and also competed in and won the Azerbaijan Cup. Due to their 3rd-placed finish the previous season, Khazar entered the Europa League at the first qualifying round stage where they were knocked out by FC Olimpia of Moldova.

The Neftchi Baku 2013–14 season was Neftchi Baku's 22nd Azerbaijan Premier League season, and their fourth season under manager Boyukagha Hajiyev. Neftchi are the defending champions of the Azerbaijan Premier League and will also compete in the 2013–14 Azerbaijan Cup. They entered and were eliminated at the 2nd qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League by Skënderbeu Korçë of Albania. Following their elimination from the Champions League, Boyukagha Hajiyev resigned on 25 July 2013, and was replaced by Tarlan Ahmadov. Ahmadov was sacked as manager on 23 October 2013 following Neftchi's 2–1 defeat to Khazar Lankaran in the Azerbaijan Supercup. Nazim Suleymanov was appointed the club's manager on 25 October, but resigned on 8 January 2014 following a dispute over transfer fund, and Boyukagha Hajiyev returning as manager on 11 January.

The Khazar Lankaran 2013-14 season is Khazar Lankaran's ninth Azerbaijan Premier League season. It is their first full season with John Toshack as manager. They started the season by competing in the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League, reaching the 2nd qualifying round, after defeating Sliema Wanderers, before losing 0-10 on aggregate to Maccabi Haifa. As runners up in the previous season Azerbaijan Cup, Khazar took part in the revamped Azerbaijan Supercup, emerging victorious against Neftchi Baku. They currently taking part in the 2013–14 Azerbaijan Cup and 2013–14 Azerbaijan Premier League.

The Ravan Baku 2013-14 season was Ravan Baku's third, and final, season in the Azerbaijan Premier League, after finishing 10th and being relegated. They also reached the Semifinals of the Azerbaijan Cup where they were defeated by Neftchi Baku. It was to be Ramil Aliyev's first full season as manager, however he resigned on 12 August 2013 following 2 successive defeats and Ravan bottom of the table, Vladislav Kadyrov took over as manager. Kadyrov was himself was replaced on 7 October by Shahin Diniyev, who resigned on 3 January 2014 with Güvenç Kurtar being appointed in his place.

The 2014–15 Azerbaijan Premier League was the 23rd season of Azerbaijan Premier League, the Azerbaijani professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. Qarabağ are the defending champions, having won the previous season. The season started on 9 August 2014 and ended on 28 May 2015.

The Simurq 2014–15 season is Simurq's ninth Azerbaijan Premier League season. They will compete in the 2014–15 Azerbaijan Premier League and the 2014–15 Azerbaijan Cup. Giorgi Chikhradze left his position as manager on 16 July 2014.

The Khazar Lankaran 2014-15 season is Khazar Lankaran's tenth Azerbaijan Premier League season. They will participate in the Premier League and the Azerbaijan Cup.

The 2014–15 season was the 44th season of competitive football for Universitatea Craiova, and the first season for a team from Craiova in Liga I since 2011. Universitatea Craiova were promoted to the top league of the Romanian football league system after winning the 2013–14 Liga II season.

The 2014–15 Azerbaijan Cup was the 23rd season of the annual cup competition in Azerbaijan. The final of the cup has been played on 3 June 2015.

The 2015–16 Azerbaijan Premier League was the 24th season of Azerbaijan Premier League, the Azerbaijani professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. Qarabağ were the defending champions, having won the 2014–15 Azerbaijan season.
