Rickey Anderson Jackson is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the New Orleans Saints (1981–1993) and the San Francisco 49ers (1994–1995). He led the team's Dome Patrol linebacker corps while playing with the Saints. In 1997, Jackson was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame. Jackson won a Super Bowl ring with the 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX one year before retiring. On February 7, 2010, Jackson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Jabari Amin Greer is an American former professional football player who was a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers and was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2004. Greer also played in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints.
Michael Dywane Jackson Dyson was an American professional football player who was a wide receiver for eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL) from 1991 to 1998. He played college football for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. Jackson was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round of the 1991 NFL draft. He played in the NFL for the Browns and the Baltimore Ravens. Jackson signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks to play the 1999 season, but was cut at the end of the preseason.

The 2009 Ole Miss Rebels football team represented the University of Mississippi during the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was led by Houston Nutt, who was in his second season as the Rebels' head coach. Ole Miss has been a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) since the league's inception in 1932, and has participated in that conference's Western Division since its formation in 1992. The Rebels played their seven home games in 2009 at Vaught–Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, which has been Ole Miss football's home since 1915. The Rebels finished the season 9–4, 4–4 in SEC play and won their second straight Cotton Bowl Classic 21–7 against Oklahoma State.

The Southern Heritage Classic presented by FedEx is an annual historically black college football game between the Golden Lions of University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) and the Tigers of Tennessee State University. UAPB replaced Jackson State University after Jackson State played 29 games in the classic.
Adoree' K. Jackson is an American football cornerback and return specialist who is a free agent. He played college football for the USC Trojans, earning consensus All-American honors and winning the Jim Thorpe Award and the Jet Award during his junior season in 2016. He was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Jackson spent four seasons with the Titans before signing with the Giants in 2021.
Bruce Barton Holmes is a former gridiron football linebacker who played two seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings. He was drafted by the Chiefs in the twelfth round of the 1987 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Minnesota and attended Henry Ford High School in Detroit, Michigan. Holmes was also a member of the Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Rough Riders and BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
