Markus Schatte (born 22 June 1956 in Frankfurt [1] [2] ) is a German football coach.

Schatte originally studied sports science before taking up the teaching profession. [3] Although never having played football professionally, he became the youth trainer and scout for Tennis Borussia Berlin in the late 1980s [4] where he later coached the Boateng brothers, Jérôme and Kevin, [5] as well as Ashkan Dejagah, Zafer Yelen and Sejad Salihović. [5]

For a short time in 2006, Schatte was the first team manager of the Berliner football club Hertha Zehlendorf, [5] and took over the reins at Tennis Borussia Berlin after Johann Gajda was sacked in 2008. [4] He remained at Tennis Borussia as the club's youth team coach before again becoming first team manager following Cemal Yıldız's resignation in April 2011. [6] After being released in 2014, Schatte became manager of Berliner FC Dynamo's reserve team. [7]

Schatte is married and has two sons. [2]

The 1999–2000 season was the ninth time Tennis Borussia Berlin played in the 2. Bundesliga, the second highest tier of the German football league system. After 34 league games, Tennis Borussia finished 13th. Saša Ćirić scored 14 of the club's 42 league goals. However, ten days following the last round of league games, the German Football Association revoked TeBe's license for the following season, and as a result, the club were relegated instead of the Stuttgarter Kickers. The club made it to the third round of the DFB-Pokal where they lost 3–2 after extra time to Hertha BSC. The club's reserve team, Tennis Borussia Berlin (Amateure), won the Berliner Landespokal, beating Berliner FC Dynamo 2–0 in the final at the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark.
