Somerset County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Somerset. Founded in 1875,Somerset was initially regarded as a minor county until official first-class status was acquired in 1895. Somerset has competed in the County Championship since 1891 and has subsequently played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. The club's limited overs team was formerly named the Somerset Sabres,but is now known only as Somerset.
Cameron Leon White is an Australian former international cricketer who captained the national side in Twenty20 Internationals. A powerful middle order batsman and right-arm leg-spin bowler,White made his first-class cricket debut as a teenager in the 2000–01 season for the Victoria cricket team as a bowling all-rounder. During his time with Australia,White won the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy.
Jerome Everton Taylor is a Jamaican cricketer who has played as a fast bowler for the West Indies. Taylor eventually picked up 100 wickets for the Windies in both tests and odis. During 2017 he reversed an initial decision to retire from international cricket. Taylor has also featured for Jamaica,English sides Somerset,Leicestershire and Sussex,CPL teams St Lucia Zouks and Jamaica Tallawahs and IPL sides Pune Warriors and Mumbai Indians in his cricketing career. Taylor was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup. He is the only bowler to have ever taken a hat-trick in a Champions Trophy match,which he did in the 2006 tournament against Australia,and that was the first hat-trick taken by a West Indian bowler in the ODI format.
Jeremy William Lloyds was an English cricket player and umpire. A left-handed batsman and right-arm off break bowler,he played for Somerset,Orange Free State and Gloucestershire before his retirement in 1991. Lloyds made his umpiring debut in 1996 and graduated to county cricket in 1998 and international games in 2000.

He is currently serving as the batting coach of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He was part of the 2012 ICC World T20 winning team for West Indies. During his period,he was one of the most aggressive batsman and he also has the record of six 6s in an over against Sri Lanka.
Adil Usman Rashid is an English cricketer who plays for England in One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket,and previously played for the Test team. In domestic cricket,he represents Yorkshire,and has played in multiple Twenty20 leagues,he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs.2 Crore,in the 2023 Indian Premier League auction. He is regarded as one of the best English spinners of all-time
Alfonso Clive Thomas is a South African former professional cricketer. He is a right arm fast-medium bowler and a big hitting lower-order batsman. Playing in South African domestic cricket for North West,Northerns,the Titans,the Lions,and the Dolphins,Thomas has also played English county cricket for Warwickshire and Somerset,Indian Premier League matches for the Pune Warriors,and in Australian domestic cricket for the Adelaide Strikers and the Perth Scorchers. In June 2014,Thomas took four wickets in four balls in a County Championship game against Sussex. He was a pioneer of death bowling in the early years of T20 cricket.
Steven Kirby is an English retired first-class cricketer,and more recently a cricket coach. Kirby played for Yorkshire,Gloucestershire and Somerset,before retiring from playing in 2014. In 2020,he rejoined Somerset as their bowling coach.
Steven John Croft is an English first-class cricketer who has played for Lancashire County Cricket Club since 2005. He bats right-handed and can bowl both medium-fast and off breaks. In 2008 Croft was given the Lancashire members' Player of the Year and One-Day Player of the Year awards. In 2008/09 he played for the Auckland Aces in New Zealand as an overseas player. Awarded his Lancashire cap in 2010,Croft was part of the Lancashire team that won the County Championship in 2011.

Briggs is a right-handed batsman who bowls slow left-arm orthodox. He was born at Newport on the Isle of Wight and was educated on the island at Carisbrooke High School. Briggs is the first international player to be born on the Isle of Wight. Briggs made his debut for Hampshire County Cricket Club aged 18 in 2009,since his debut he has seen success in first-class and Twenty20 cricket. In 2011,he became the youngest English spin bowler to take 100 first-class wickets since Derek Underwood. He made his full international debut for England on 21 February 2012 against Pakistan in the fourth One Day International at the DSC Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

In domestic cricket he represents Lancashire,having previously played for Somerset,and has played in multiple Twenty20 leagues,including for Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Buttler is known for his highly innovative and aggressive batting style,especially in limited over cricket. He was part of the England team that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Under his captaincy,England won the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup.

The 2011 season saw Somerset County Cricket Club competing in three domestic competitions;the first division of the County Championship in which despite being within a shout of winning the Championship with two games to go a lack of consistency cost them and they finished 4th,and reached the finals of both one day domestic competitions the Clydesdale Bank 40 and the Friends Life t20. While in international competitions they failed to make it past the group stage in the Caribbean Twenty20 but impressed in the Champions League Twenty20 reaching the semi-finals.
