Robert Trimble was a lawyer and jurist who served as Justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals,as United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Kentucky and as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1826 to his death in 1828. During his brief Supreme Court tenure he authored several majority opinions,including the decision in Ogden v. Saunders,which was the only majority opinion that Chief Justice John Marshall ever dissented from during his 34 years on the Court.

Pleas E. Jones was an American lawyer and jurist from Kentucky. A native of Whitley County,Kentucky,Jones was a schoolteacher before he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After returning to the United States,Jones earned his law degree at the University of Kentucky College of Law. Jones was a county judge and a Commonwealth's attorney before being elected a circuit judge. In 1973,Jones was appointed an associate justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals—then the state's highest court. He served on that court until his retirement in 1979. He died seven years later.

Sara Walter Combs is a judge of the Kentucky Court of Appeals,representing the 7th Appellate District. She was the first woman and the first judge from the 7th district to serve as chief judge of the Court of Appeals,holding that position from 2004 to 2010. She was also the first woman to sit on the Kentucky Supreme Court after being appointed by Governor Brereton Jones to fill a vacancy in 1993. She lost her bid for re-election later that year. She is the widow of former Kentucky Governor Bert T. Combs.
