The current Indonesian Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration is Abdul Halim Iskandar since 23 October 2019. The minister is supported by Deputy Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration which is Budi Arie Setiadi. The Minister administers the portfolio through the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration.

President Abdurrahman Wahid appointed Manuel Kaisiepo as a junior minister equivalent to a deputy minister in charge of the government's strategic program. Then continued by the Megawati government by forming a new ministry called the Ministry of Acceleration of Development in Eastern. [1] Under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono administration, state minister post was abolished since 19 October 2011, so that it changed its name to Minister of Development of Disadvantaged Regions. [2] On 26 October 2014, President Joko Widodo announces his cabinet. Transmigration Portfolio is separated from the Ministry of Manpower and merged with the Ministry of Development of Disadvantaged Regions. [3] In the second period, Joko Widodo added a deputy minister to assist the village minister's duties. [4]

The Indonesia Forward Cabinet is the current Cabinet of Indonesia. It was announced by the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo on 23 October 2019. Halim is the brother of Muhaimin Iskandar, the leader of the PKB, and the great-grandchild of Bisri Syansuri, a politician and figure in the Nahdlatul Ulama. He is married to Lilik Umi Nasriiyah, the couple has 3 children.

Budi Arie Setiadi is an Indonesian politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle who became the Minister of Communication and Informatics on 17 July 2023. He was become a minister because the previous minister, Johny G. Plate has involved on a corruption case. Setiadi was previously the Deputy Minister of Villages, Disadvantage Regions, and Transmigration and was a leading member of President Joko Widodo's campaign team in 2014 and 2019.
