In addition to serving the city of Monroe, the district also encompasses much of Monroe Charter Township and portions of Frenchtown Charter, Exeter, Raisinville, and La Salle townships.

Walnut Hill Elementary School is a public elementary school in Dallas Independent School District (DISD), serving grades PK–5. The school is located at 10115 Midway Road in Dallas, near Walnut Hill Lane, and has been in operation since 1912, though the building used until 2019 was constructed in 1946. Walnut Hill serves a portion of the Preston Hollow area, including parts of the "Old Preston Hollow" estate community.
