National Action (Maltese : Azzjoni Nazzjonali, AN) was a right-wing Maltese political party active between 2007 and 2010.
The party was founded in June 2007, the two most prominent founders being Josie Muscat, a medical doctor and entrepreneur and a former MP of the Nationalist Party, and real estate magnate Anġlu Xuereb. Muscat was elected National Action's first Leader.
The party was best known for its position on immigration. It believed that Malta should close its borders to illegal immigration and, where this is not possible, the European Union (of which Malta is a member) should be obliged to share Malta's burden of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants should be hosted in Malta for not more than a month, then being moved on to other states. The party has also called for a directly elected President of Malta with expanded powers and politically unaffiliated, a smaller Parliament and a Council of State. It also wanted to lower taxes using a flat tax methodology in exchange for more social responsibility and the curbing of social services abuse.
After the result of the general elections of 2008, Muscat announced his retirement from politics. He was eventually persuaded to stay on as Party Leader.
On 15 April 2010, after a second similar showing, this time in the 2009 elections for the European Parliament, the Party's executive committee proposed to transform the party into a pressure group.

The politics of Malta takes place within a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic, whereby the President of Malta is the constitutional head of state. Executive Authority is vested in the President of Malta with the general direction and control of the Government of Malta remaining with the Prime Minister of Malta who is the head of government and the cabinet. Legislative power is vested in the Parliament of Malta which consists of the President of Malta and the unicameral House of Representatives of Malta with the Speaker presiding officer of the legislative body. Judicial power remains with the Chief Justice and the Judiciary of Malta. Since Independence, the party electoral system has been dominated by the Christian democratic Nationalist Party and the social democratic Labour Party.
The Progress Party, commonly abbreviated as FrP, is a right-wing political party in Norway. The FrP has traditionally self-identified as classical-liberal and as a libertarian party but is generally positioned to the right of the Conservative Party, and is considered the most right-wing party to be represented in parliament. It is often described as moderately right-wing populist; this characterization has also been disputed in both academic and public discourse. By 2020, the party attained a growing national conservative faction. After the 2017 parliamentary election, it was Norway's third largest political party, with 26 representatives in the Storting. Lawrence Gonzi, is a Maltese politician, retired Nationalist politician and lawyer, who served for twenty-five years in various critical roles in Maltese politics. Gonzi was Prime Minister of Malta from 2004 to 2013, and leader of the Nationalist Party. He also served as speaker of the House from 1988 to 1996, and Minister of Social Policy from 1998 to 2004, as well as Deputy Prime Minister from 1999 to 2004. Fifteen general elections have been contested since the granting of universal suffrage in Malta. Only 73 women have contested in these elections. The number of men, on the other hand, has exceeded 1000. The number of women contesting general elections has, however, increased over the years. In fact, the 1998 elections saw 24 women candidates participating, the highest number to date, with six of these getting elected, registering a 25 percent success rate.

Libertas Malta was a political party in Malta set up to contest the 2009 European Parliament elections under a common banner with Libertas.eu. Its only candidate Mary Gauci failed to be elected and the party has been inactive since.
General elections were held in Malta on Saturday, 3 June 2017. The elections were contested by the Labour Party, led by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, the Nationalist Party, led by opposition leader Simon Busuttil, and four other parties; making it the elections with most parties participating since 1962. The result was a victory for the Labour Party, with 55% of the popular vote. Voter turnout reached 92%.
Cyrus Engerer is a Maltese Member of European Parliament representing the Labour Party. A gay rights activist, he was the leading spokesperson for the Yes campaign at the 2011 Maltese divorce referendum. In 2021 he was tasked with negotiating the European Parliaments historic resolution on the declaration of the European Union as an LGBTQ Freedom zone, in reaction to the establishment of so called "LGBT-Free zones" in Poland. Engerer later went on to write the European Parliaments resolution which condemned the laws in Hungary which effectively banned "LGBT propaganda" in the vicinity of schools. From 2014 till 2019 Engerer was Joseph Muscat's special envoy to the European Union. Since November 2020 he is a Member of the European Parliament. Engerer was convicted and received a suspended two years imprisonment for spreading revenge porn.
General elections will be held in Malta on 26 March 2022 to elect members of the House of Representatives.
Robert Abela is a Maltese lawyer and politician serving as the prime minister of Malta since 2020. A member and the current leader of the Labour Party since 2020, he was sworn in as prime minister following the resignation of Joseph Muscat on 13 January 2020.
