The Nautilus Institute for Security and Sustainability is a public policy think tank founded in 1992. [5] The Institute convenes scholars and practitioners who conduct research to address interconnected global problems such as threats of nuclear war, urban and energy insecurity, and climate change in the Asia Pacific region. [6]

North Korea, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), is a country in East Asia. Sung-Yoon Lee is a scholar of Korean and East Asian studies, and specialist on North Korea. He is the Kim Koo-Korea Foundation Professor in Korean Studies and assistant professor at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. He was an associate in research at the Korea Institute, Harvard University. and a research fellow at the National Asia Research Program.
