Noblesville Event Center is a indoor arena under construction in Noblesville, Indiana. It will be home to the Indiana Mad Ants of the NBA G League. It will have a capacity of 3,400. Opening is planned for Fall 2024. It is owned by the City of Noblesville.
With the recent trend of NBA teams moving their NBA G League teams closer to their home markets, on May 8, 2023, the Indiana Pacers announced that they would move their G-League affiliate from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Noblesville, Indiana to play in an arena to be built. [1] [2] Originally slated to be built in the Finch Creek Park area, the arena will now be built at the intersection of 141st Street and I-69, east of Olio Road. [3] [4] [5]
The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the official minor league organization of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League from 2005 until 2017. The league started with eight teams until NBA commissioner David Stern announced a plan to expand the NBA D-League to 15 teams and develop it into a true minor league farm system, with each NBA D-League team affiliated with one or more NBA teams in March 2005. At the conclusion of the 2013–14 NBA season, 33% of NBA players had spent time in the NBA D-League, up from 23% in 2011. As of the 2023–24 season, the league consists of 31 teams, 29 of which are either single-affiliated or owned by an NBA team, along with the NBA G League Ignite exhibition team.
John D Zeglis is an American business executive. He served as president of AT&T from 1997 to 2001 and as chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of AT&T Wireless from 1999 to 2004. Zeglis also co-founded the NBA G League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants and served as president and primary shareholder of the organization from 2007 until the acquisition of the team by Pacers Sports and Entertainment in 2015.
The Indiana Mad Ants are an American professional basketball team of the NBA G League based in Indianapolis, and are affiliated with the Indiana Pacers. The team plays their home games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The franchise won their first and only championship in 2014, when the G League was known as the NBA D-League. In September 2015, Pacers Sports & Entertainment (PS&E), parent company of the Indiana Pacers purchased the Mad Ants. Before 2023, the team was based in Fort Wayne's Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and was known as the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
